Principal's News
Welcome back to Term Two for our existing students, families and staff. Welcome to our new families who have joined the Rangeville Family this term. We hope that you all had a wonderful and safe holiday period and are ready for another massive term of Learning, Achieving and Growing every day. While I have the pleasure of navigating COVID isolation with a number of family members currently unwell with COVID-19, I have been told our students have returned primed and ready for learning and are doing a beautiful job as always.
Some of the Key Activities that are happening this term include:
- ANZAC Day Parade: 22/4/22 Thank you to our students and families for their efforts this morning.
- Under 8’s Morning: 29/4/22
- 2023 PREP Information Night: 4/5/22
- Mother’s Day Stall & Mother’s Day: 5/5/22 – 6/5/22
- Chaplaincy Mother’s Day Breakfast: 6/5/22
- Toowoomba Eisteddfod Part 1: 5/5/22-15/5/22
- NAPLAN: 10/5/22- 20/5/22
- School Photos: 2/6/22 – 3/6/22
- Athletics Carnival: 9 – 12 year olds 13/6/22 – 15/6/22
Cross Country
Congratulations to all of our students who participated in yesterday’s Cross-Country event. As always, the student’s exceptional sportsmanship, participation and effort made for a wonderful day for all. Congratulations to Mr Morris who ran a very efficient and effective carnival. Congratulations everyone involved.
2023 Prep Intake
We are currently registering in and out of catchment enrolments in readiness for Prep 2023. If you have a child eligible to start school next year or know someone that does, please take note of the following:
Parent Information Evening: Wednesday 4 May, 5:30pm - 6:30pm
Staffing Update
- Congratulations to Ms Tracey Francis who was successful in her application to Catholic Education over the holidays. We wish her all the best for the future and know that she will continue to make a difference in the lives of the students and families of her class. Ms Trinity Arday who is one of our District Relief Teacher’s will take over this class from the start of the term.
- Year 1 Position: There were 3 applicants for the Year 1 position advertised across smart jobs. 2 were from overseas and 1 application was requesting a part time position. Therefore, we have been successful in our application for a Permission to Teach for Ms Shae-Lee Campbell. Ms Campbell has been working with Mrs Bothmann this week and will start full-time next week.
- COVID 19 Scenario Planning: Last term, we had a number of positive COVID-19 cases throughout the student, community and staff. The majority of disruptions to consistency of staffing occurred in our non-teaching staff. Despite the increased numbers of cases across our school, we were able to minimise disruptions to our classes through the management of DRT and relief staff. We continue to have careful and considered planning in place to ensure that we can minimise the disruptions to classroom teaching and learning and will utilise all available staff to prioritise the continuation of classroom teaching and learning for classes.
ANZAC Day Parade
Lest We Forget
Congratulations to our entire school community for the respect displayed in the act of remembrance during our moving ANZAC day service today.
Students listened to the stories and drew inspiration from our ANZAC’s, focusing on:
- Our ANZAC’s sense of purpose,
- Our ANZAC’s willingness to accept responsibility and finally,
- Our ANZAC’s sense of compassion and kindness.
It’s through these stories that they hear examples of the ANZAC Spirit.
So today and at services and memorials across our beautiful town or even if your family come together in your drive way to light up the dawn, please ensure that the famous ANZAC Spirit continues in each and every one of us and from this generation to the next.
Congratulations to our students – wreath layers, student leaders, musicians, Voices Choir and their respective conductors, Mrs Hagley and Mr Henry for all of their efforts in preparation and delivery of this wonderful service. A very special thanks to Mr Lindsay Shanks and Mrs Sarah Courtney for their important part in our commemorative ceremony.

Copies of the race results and photos of the day will be posted outside of P-Block (new specialist hub).

ICAS 2022
Welcome to the 2022 International Competitions and Assessments for Schools (ICAS,)
For over 40 years ICAS has taken place each year in schools throughout Australia and internationally. The Competitions provide an opportunity for all students to gain a measure of their own achievement in an external assessment situation. It provides schools and teachers with comprehensive reporting of results and also gives parents helpful information regarding their child’s performance.
Subject Availability/Year Levels Table:
An entry fee is charged for each competition entered. If you would like your child to sit the ICAS assessments this year payment is now easier with the online Parent Payment System. Further information regarding this system will be given to parents as the payment dates draw closer.
If you require further information or assistance please leave a message at the office and I will respond to your enquiry.

Christian Religious Instruction (CRI)
CRI is a weekly 30 minute, age appropriate and engaging lesson, for students with parental/caregiver permission, from years 1 to years 6.
The program reinforces QLD Education core values of responsibility, understanding, respect, tolerance, inclusion, integrity, positive self-image, freedom, compassion and caring. Students are encouraged to develop positive values and choices on topics such as thankfulness, forgiveness and hope.
Trained instructors are drawn from a variety of Christian churches, hold a blue card, are accredited by their church and approved by the school principal.
The state-wide approved curriculum encourages storytelling, drama, interactive discussions, music, games and craft.
Permission for your child to opt into CRI is usually given by you when you enrol your child in the school.
Alternatively, you can give permission for your child to start CRI this year by writing a short note addressed to the school Principal, Mr Ben Kidd, stating you wish for your child to be involved in CRI and hand in at the office. Please include the day’s date and signature on the note. You can also do this if you no longer wish for your child to do CRI.
Please see the CRI information brochure below for more details.
If you need more information you can contact me through the Rangeville school office.

Next Meeting
Our next meeting is Tuesday May 10 at 6.30pm in the Resource Room. We hope you can join us.
New to Rangeville? A warm welcome is extended to our new families. We have a very active and involved P&C here at Rangeville State School. We would love to meet you and have a chat about the many different ways you can be involved.
P&C Going Cashless
The P&C wishes to notify our school families that we will be following the school's recent decision to "go cashless" and will be effective from Monday of Week 3.
This decision was discussed in detail at our recent Annual General Meeting and unanimously voted upon by all present P&C members. Click here to see more information on Flexischools if needed Flexischools Link
The "going cashless" system will include:
Uniform Shop: Orders to be placed via Flexischools; eftpos facilities are available in-store.
Tuckshop: Orders to be placed via Flexischools; cash sales offered for small items purchased during each lunchbreak.
Bookclub: Orders to be placed via Loop app/website; cash orders will still accepted via the dropbox outside the P&C office.
P&C Events: Mostly run via Flexischools, or as per P&C directions.
ROSHC: All accounts to be paid via direct debit - this has already been communicated directly to our ROSHC families.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the P&C Executive directly: rssparentlink@gmail.com
Mother's Day Stall
To be held in the Resource Room on Wednesday 4 May and Thursday 5 May. The stall will be open before school, after school, morning tea and lunch breaks. Orders will be placed on Flexischools.
More information will follow closer to the event introducing everyone to how the stall will be run this year due to minimal volunteers.
If you would like to be part of the team of volunteers allowing us to hold this stall for everyone, we need people to assist with different times throughout the day. Even if you can only offer an hour, we would love for you to be part of it.
Please email Juliette at opsmanager@rangevilless.eq.edu.au or drop in and see Lorna or Juliette in the P&C office near the Uniform Shop to see how you can assist.
Election Day Cake Stall and BBQ
Volunteers Needed!
As Rangeville State School is a voting location on Election Day Saturday 21 May we need volunteers to assist with our cake stall and sausage sizzle, selling and cooking. Only an hour of your time is needed, many hands make light work!

Cookie Dough Fundraiser
Keep an eye out as we are teaming up with Billy G’s for a very special fundraiser this term. Such a treat for everyone to keep a tub or two (or more!) of the special recipe cookie dough, in ten flavours in your freezer for 12 months, or fridge for 4 weeks, all made in a nut free premises.

Volunteers Still Needed!
We have a few regular volunteers that we are so thankful for but we really need others who can commit, even for a few hours once a month or after drop off for an hour, to put the labels on the lunch bags. This would greatly assist Nicky in the Tuckshop. Our kids are so fortunate to have freshly prepared hot meals at both break times, and to continue this service, Nicky needs some volunteers that can commit to turning up.
From Week 3 Term 2, no cash orders will be accepted over the counter before school. Please place all orders on Flexischools before 8.30am.
Small cash purchases of drinks, ice blocks and snack items (no preprepared food) at both breaks will still be accepted.
Keep an eye on Facebook and Flexischools for some exciting meal deals later this term.
Please email Juliette at opsmanager@rangevilless.eq.edu or drop in and see Nicky at the tuck shop or Lorna and Juliette in the P&C office near the Uniform Shop to see how you can assist.
Uniform Shop
Monday and Tuesday | P&C Uniform Shop 8.30am – 9.00am |
Wednesday | P&C Uniform Shop 2.30pm – 3.15pm |
The Uniform Shop is currently fully stocked with all items.
Avoid the rush when a cold snap hits and get in to organise your jumpers, anorak jackets and tracksuit pants now. Order on Flexischools before 4pm and the items will be delivered to your child's classroom the next day. If you're unsure of sizing, please pop in and see Nicky.
$1 BLUE spot items are still for sale – there is plenty of stock so pop in now to secure your second-hand items for a bargain price.
We would like to thank you for your ongoing support and look forward to meeting some new volunteers at some of the upcoming events. If you are new to the school, we also ask you to visit us as we have so many ways that you can help, we just need to meet you.

ROSHC Vacation Care
What a busy two week break we had at ROSHC Vacation Care. The children enjoyed a range of activities that were planed by the Educators, but suggested by the children, so there was something for everyone to enjoy. We had a backwards pinata, paint and draw with your feet, there was an incursion with a karaoke machine/juke box and another with integrated STEM doing circuits and e-waste pull apart. We had an all-time favourite of paper plane creating, there was Vortex Javelin, fly jump, kick tennis, create a comic book, dress up as your favourite super hero or villain, glow slime and colour changing slime, bucket up the hill challenge (this activity was great for team building with lots of laughs) and then we had fun little quirky activities throughout like stacking m&m’s. So our days were full of planned activities along with plenty of spontaneous play. As vacation care takes us all term to plan we are starting to get ideas together for Winter holidays. If you have any feedback please let us know. We will always try to create theme days around activities that the children want.
We hope that everyone enjoyed their time off and are ready for fun and learning at before and after school care for term 2.
ROSHC Important Information
Notifying Abscences
Families are required to notify ROSHC of all absences. The school does not notify ROSHC if your child is absent or goes home early.
If your child is booked in and does not attend, educators are required to search the school grounds, and at times contact the police. This means that educators are not able to perform their normal duties. Recently there have been several occasions where educators have searched the school for 20 minutes as they are unable to get in contact with parents.
Below is an exert from our policy and procedure manual. For the full policy please go to:
https://www.rsspandc.com.au/_files/ugd/80dcff_430f3d81c75b45e49b02ef85a2e38f3a.pdf

2. Once confirmation of absence from parents and/or emergency contacts or school is given the student will be confirmed as non-attending.
3. Where a child’s location cannot be confirmed, the following actions will be taken to locate the child and expected attendance by:
a. checking of school grounds and immediate proximity,
b. communicating with the school office, and
c. phoning all parents/emergency contacts.
4. Where a child cannot be located after reasonable effort to identify their whereabouts and where parents/emergency contact cannot be contacted the Police will be notified. Continued effort will be made to contact the parents and/or emergency contacts.
South and High streets traffic signal installation project
Toowoomba Regional Council is installing traffic signals at the South and High streets intersection in Rangeville from late April to mid-June 2022, weather permitting.
The new signals will improve the overall operation and safety of the intersection and cater for future traffic demands.
The project will also upgrade street lighting, reseal the road surface and renew pram ramps, footpaths and linemarking at the intersection.
Construction will be completed from Monday to Friday between 6am and 6pm. Weekend work may be required.
The intersection will be open to traffic from Monday to Friday, however some temporary lane closures may be required.
Road users may experience minor delays during these works and are encouraged to plan ahead, drive to the changed traffic conditions and follow all signage.
Council will make every effort to minimise construction impacts and thanks the community for their patience and co-operation during these works.
