Principal's Celebration

As we wrap up another successful term, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to our entire school community—students, staff, and families—for your continued support, enthusiasm, and engagement.
This term has been filled with memorable moments and enriching experiences. From the IM Con Workshops that sparked curiosity and creativity, to the outstanding performances at the Eisteddfod, our students have truly shone. We’ve also completed important work around the NCCD, ensuring every student’s learning needs are recognised and supported.
Our students represented us with pride in Interschool Sport, and we welcomed future learners through our Get Set for Prep 2025 program. The Year 6 Brisbane Trip was a highlight, offering adventure, learning and lasting memories. Behind the scenes, our dedicated staff engaged in Planning Days to ensure high-quality teaching and learning continues.
We celebrated community spirit through events like the Father’s Day Stall, Parent/Teacher Interviews, and Student Council Jersey Day, which brought colour and fun to our school grounds. The Junior Athletics Carnival showcased teamwork and perseverance, and the School Musical was a spectacular celebration of talent and collaboration—congratulations to all involved!
As we head into the holiday break, I encourage everyone to take time to rest, recharge, and enjoy special moments with loved ones. Whether you're travelling or staying local, may your holidays be safe, joyful, and filled with laughter.
Thank you once again for a wonderful term. We look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed and ready for the exciting term ahead. Term 4 begins on Tuesday 7 October with Monday 6 October a Public Holiday for the King's Birthday.

A Magical Musical Evening at Rangeville
What an outstanding performance we enjoyed on Monday evening! Our students truly lit up the stage with their energy, talent and teamwork, bringing the jungle to life in a way that was both heartwarming and unforgettable.
None of which would be possible without the vision, dedication, and hard work of our staff. To the wonderful Rangeville State School team, thank you for your ongoing support of the musical and our Music Program, and for encouraging our students every step of the way. A very special acknowledgment goes to Mr Matt Henry, whose expertise, passion and countless hours of rehearsal shaped the incredible performance we witnessed. Mr Henry, your commitment to nurturing our students’ talents makes a lasting impact and on behalf of the entire school community, we thank you sincerely.
Thank you to our wonderful Instrumental Music Teachers - Mrs Johansen, Mrs Dietz, Mrs Jensen and Mr Gray. Your encouragement and enthusiasm inspires our students to play with confidence!
Congratulations to students who performed in:
- Senior Strings
- Woodwind Ensemble
- Senior Concert Band
- String Quartet
- Symphony Orchestra
To our amazing parent volunteers, we are so grateful for your time, energy and enthusiasm. From helping with rehearsals to creating incredible costumes and cheering from the audience—your support means the world.
The Musical was a result of many weeks of rehearsals, laughter, learning, and collaboration. Student's creativity, courage and joy were on full display, reminding us all of the “bare necessities” and what truly matters: friendship, community and celebration.
Thank You – Toowoomba Regional Council Community Access Fund
On behalf of Rangeville State School and our P&C Association, I would like to sincerely thank the Toowoomba Regional Council’s Community Access Fund Committee for its generous contribution of $2,000 towards venue hire costs at The Empire Theatre for our recent Showcase production of The Jungle Book.
We are incredibly grateful for this support, which helped make the event a success and ensured our students had the opportunity to perform in a professional venue. This experience was not only memorable but also deeply enriching for our students, families, and wider school community.
Thank you for helping us bring the magic of the jungle to life!

Elders Colouring Competition Winners
We’re excited to announce the winners of the Elders Colouring Competition and we couldn’t be prouder of our talented young artists!
Eloise from Year 6 took out the top prize in the Years 4 to 6 age group with her vibrant and creative entry.
Alice from PHO was the winner in the Kindy to Prep age group, impressing judges with her colourful and imaginative work.
Congratulations to both Eloise and Alice! Your artwork stood out beautifully, and we’re thrilled to see your creativity recognised. A big thank you to all students who participated — your efforts made this a truly special competition.
News from Mrs Griffiths - Deputy Principal (Prep & SWD)

TAKING BIG STEPS
Last week we were delighted to welcome our Kindy friends from Oak and Rangeville Early Learning to spend a special morning in Prep. The PHO classroom was buzzing with excitement as the future Preps explored our learning spaces and joined in hands-on activities. We toured the school, with the highlights seeming to be our pool, the chickens and saying hello to Mrs Gabler in the Office. One group even had a sneak preview of a song from the musical! Visits like these give our youngest learners the chance to experience the joy of school in a supportive way, helping them to feel comfortable and ready for the next big step in their education journey.

IS YOUR CHILD STARTING PREP IN 2026?
Now is the time to pop those in-catchment enrolment forms in! Starting school is such an exciting adventure. Enrol now to help your child have a smooth transition into school life!

PREP BLOSSOMS BRIGHTEN OUR FENCE!
A big thank you to Prep H for starting the idea of a beautiful flower display on the front fence! Your creativity and teamwork brought such colour and joy to our school community. Every flower made our space brighter, and encouraged other classes to join in. Thank you for spreading such happiness!
News from Mrs Hagley - Deputy Principal (Years 4-6)
Junior Athletics Carnival
What a great day! The weather was perfect which set the scene for our youngest athletes to shine! Students, we are so proud of the great effort and sportsmanship you showed on the day – I especially enjoyed watching the amazing tug-of-war competition!
A huge thank you to staff, P&C and volunteers who all helped to ensure the day ran smoothly. Well done and congratulations on a fantastic day.

Upper School Sports Achievements
Throughout the year our senior students have had the opportunity to participate in Zone and Regional trials with some commendable results. These achievements reflect the dedication these students put into their training is shown in the table. Congratulations from the whole Rangeville Community.
I would also like to remind the families of these athletes that they are able to apply for a small monetary grant to assist with representative costs. Please contact the P&C Treasurer at treasurer@rangevillestateschoolpandc.onmicrosoft.com who will provide all of the information required to complete the grant application.

Pre-Service Teachers
After the holidays, five of our classes will be hosting pre-service teachers from USQ. These young people are future of our profession, and we welcome them into our school to learn from our amazing classroom teachers who will mentor them as they refine their craft. The preservice teachers will build their skillset by observing, planning, and trialling teaching strategies. Please make them welcome.

Berry Street Education Model
One of the key strategies that we employ as part of BSEM is the Welcome Circle.
Welcome circle and the first 5 minutes
The first 5 minutes of class are critical for setting the tone for the rest of the learning. Consistent rhythms and routines, particularly ones that embed intentional positive micro-moments, are powerful healing interventions. Welcome circles – nurturing routines that support engagement in learning and wellbeing (Roffey, 2006) – are a key strategy for consistently embedding strengths and also tending to the body and relational connection.
This routine of forming a circle with our classes to review key values and expectations and celebrate any announcements and successes, serves as a threshold between home and the complex task of learning. It allows young people to ground themselves, co-regulate and establish a common rhythm for the learning day.
Why a circle?
The practice of sitting or standing in a circle is one that many cultures have used for centuries – and continue to use today – as a way to support decision making and resolve conflict (Roffey, 2006). By taking the time to be together, side by side, to establish a common understanding and share positive emotions, we are supporting young people to build relationships with their peers and share power in healthy, relational ways. The circle allows us to ensure that everyone is equally visible and connected and, symbolically, that each person’s worldview stands on equal footing (Brown & Di Lallio, 2020).
PBL Reward
The last three days have seen year levels celebrate our students who work hard to meet our school’s expectations every day. Taking time to recognise and reward our young people helps build stronger connections within and across classes. You can see just what a great time the Year 1’s had at their Mini Master Chef activity today.

News from Mr Manttan - Head of Curriculum
Student Attendance
As part of our focus on attendance, we recognise the year level cohort with the highest attendance results each term. Each week, classes are updated on how their cohort is tracking and the leaderboard can change quickly. From Week 9 to Week 10, there were some big shifts!
This term, the Year 5 cohort finished on top, averaging over 96% attendance in the final week and moving from 3rd place to 1st. The Year 5 team chose to combine their PBL reward session with their attendance reward, so it was popcorn and a movie, followed by pizza for everyone! Congratulations, Year 5!
Final results for the term were:
92.3% - Year 5
92.2% - Year 4
92.0% - Year 1
Curriculum
In recent weeks, our teachers have participated in Planning Days to ensure they are well prepared to ‘hit the ground running’ in Term 4. With the introduction of the new Australian Curriculum, the Department of Education has provided updated assessment tasks, marking guides and a broad sequence of learning to support delivery of a consistent, high-quality English and Mathematics curriculum. Teachers used this time to collaborate, map out learning sequences, and develop resources together. These sessions strengthened teamwork and built confidence, helping set up a smooth and purposeful Term 4.
As is the practice at the end of each term, moderation of assessment has also taken place. Cohort teams came together to moderate samples of the Term 3 English assessment, which focused on spoken persuasive tasks. Moderation is a vital part of the learning cycle, supporting teacher assessment literacy and ensuring consistency in grading across year levels. We thank our teachers for their rigor during this process.

PBL Reward Day Year 1

QParents

QParents is a secure, online portal that has been created by the Department of Education to provide parents of Queensland state school students with 24-hour access to their child's information. The portal allows you to securely access information about your child and communicate directly with your child's school.
QParents provides secure, online access to student information such as:
- attendance details
- consent forms
- payment of invoices
- payment history
- behaviour
- report cards and assessment dates
- upcoming events
- timetables
- student photo
In addition to the information provided, it's important to note that the QParents portal only sends invoices to the parent/carer who is responsible for 100% of the student's school fees. This means that if there are multiple parents or carers who share responsibility for fees, only one of them will receive the invoice through the portal. It's important for parents and carers to communicate and coordinate payment arrangements if they are sharing the responsibility for fees.
We encourage you to register for QParents. To do this, simply express your interest by emailing admin@rangevilless@eq.edu.au or by phoning 4617 7333 and Mrs Llewellyn will email you an invitation to register (which includes your log-in code) and your child's unique EQID. Your child's EQID can also be found on your child's Semester Report Card.

There is also information on the P&C website. www.rssPandc.com.au or email at roshc@rangevilless.eq.edu.au
Explorations
Over the last couple of weeks, the children have had a great time exploring various concepts and themes. How things work and move has been popular, with the children learning about different forces such as magnetisation, dominoes, gravity and balancing. The children have also enjoyed exploring and understanding different parts of our bodies and how they all work together to ensure we function – these include the digestive system, the circulatory system and many more. They've also enjoyed exploring yoga and how their bodies move through movement. With the new season of Spring, we have celebrated with a range of craft activities and finding out what they enjoy about this season. They have also focused on carnival games since it is the Carnival of Flowers now. Throughout the term, cooking with children, our bush tucker garden and RAP activities have been enjoyed, with the children exploring their natural world, taste testing the plants and foods and mathematical and language skills.
Vacation Care
The children are looking forward to the upcoming Spring Vacation Care and there is a range of activities and experiences on offer such as a silent disco, around the world, arts and crafts and a visit to the movies and Highfields Pioneer Village. Families, please make sure your bookings and cancellations are done via the Xplor App and the permission forms are filled out, signed and returned/emailed as soon as possible. If the permission forms are not filled out and signed, your child/ren are unable to participate in these incursions / excursions on the day. Families, can we also ensure that children throughout Vacation care have appropriate footwear and clothing for the weather – enclosed footwear (sneakers and sandshoes), sun safe broad brimmed hat, spare clothes and a water bottle. Please also ensure that their belongings are labelled with their names so they can be returned to the rightful owner.
Please note, the service is closed on Friday 26th September and for the Pioneer Village excursion there will be no breakfast. The children will need their own morning tea and lunch packed for that day.
Lost Property
Families can you please ensure that your child’s belongings are labelled and easily read as this ensures that they can be returned to the rightful owner. We have a large range of lost property at the moment at ROSHC and the pink containers are located in the foyer. If your child is missing something, can you please check this regularly. Every Friday we do take unnamed belongings down to the section on the veranda where the school’s property is located.
Bookings
Please be aware you will only be able to make bookings if you have your account set up with us, so please ensure you have finished the enrolment process first. If you would like permanent bookings, email our office at roshc@rangevilless.eq.edu.au and we can talk to you about this and if we have available spaces we can arrange those bookings for you in xplor. If you are wanting casual bookings, this is done via the xplor app and you will be notified of the outcome via the app, and an email or phone call if unable to accept the booking. If you are unsure on how to do casual bookings please come and see the office educators and we can help you, or alternatively all the information on this is in the setup of the xplor app. Please notify us via email if any of your details have changed and we will update them in our system.
Absentees
If you have a booking at the service and your child goes home early from school, is absent or not coming for either BSC or ASC please let us know via your Xplor app (preferred option) or email roshc@rangevilless.eq.edu.au as soon as possible. You can also notify us via the phone 46177388 or our mobile number 0421 647 404. Please note there will be a $5 fee added if you do not inform us that your child/ren are going to be absent and we need to phone you on that particular afternoon.
Thanks
ROSHC Team

Reminder for Parents and Children:
If you have booked your children into care, but they will no longer be attending that session, please log into the Xplor App and send through the notification before 2:30 or email roshc@rangeville.eq.edu.au
For the safety of your children and the others using the service, we need to contact parents or emergency contacts, resulting in a time lapse where we cannot find a child. This is a safety risk due to not having the staff ratios while we search for the children absent.
There are multiple ways to notify the service if your child is not attending a session:
- Record an absence via the Xplor App - go to attendance mark as absent (this is the preferred method)
- Call the service - 46177388 and leave a message
- Text through to the mobile - 0421 647 404 (leave a detailed text, Child's full name, date not attending)
- Email the service at roshc@rangevilless.eq.edu.au
If your child is absent from School, you still need to notify the service as we are independent to the school and due to Confidentiality, they are not authorised to notify us of your child's absence.
If we cannot reach the primary contact, emergency contacts are called and if these contacts cannot be reached, THE POLICE WILL BE CALLED.
If you are returning a call, please press EXT 4 to connect directly to the service. If not answered, please leave a message or text the mobile immediately.
If you do not notify us, you will incur a $5 penalty fee, as we are spending considerable time trying to find these absent children in the school grounds.
If this occurs more than 3 times, we may consider reviewing your enrolment.
Safety of all children is our priority!
Thank you for consideration with this.
