Principal's Celebration

Quality teaching of reading
I would like to take this opportunity to commend our dedicated teaching staff for their exceptional work in implementing the Australian Curriculum, V9 English. The collective effort to embed consistent reading practices, clear routines and aligned instructional strategies is evident in every classroom.
It is clear that the strong routines and explicit teaching processes being embedded across all year levels are supporting student learning and achievement.
Thank you to every staff member for your continued commitment to excellence in teaching and for working together to provide our students with the very best
Thank you for your support
I would like to sincerely thank our school community for your understanding and support during the recent Queensland Teachers' Union protected industrial action on 6 August 2025. We are fortunate to have families who recognise the dedication, professionalism and care our teachers bring to their work every day. We appreciate your ongoing partnership in supporting both our staff and our school.

Triple M Weather Kid - Congratulations Evie!
A huge congratulations to Evie Bolitho from Year 6, who recently participated in Triple M's Weather Kid Program. Evie did a fantastic job reading the weather live on air!
As part of the experience, Evie won a $1000 voucher from Harvey Norman and a special morning tea for the entire Year 6 cohort!
We can't wait to hear the creative ideas from Evie and the Year 6 students on how the voucher will be used to benefit the students of our school! Well done, Evie!

JOIN OUR PREP FAMILY IN 2026 – ENROL NOW!
Throughout Week 4, I have had the absolute pleasure of meeting some of our new Prep students and their families for our 2026 cohort. The first year of school is always full of new and exciting experiences. Families play a significant role in supporting their child to have a positive and confident transition to school. We are accepting enrolments now so that students have the opportunity to build a sense of belonging as Rangeville students. Enrolment forms are able to be downloaded from our website or picked up from the Office. Your child’s Prep adventure awaits!

GET SET FOR PREP 2026!
Our first ‘Get Set for Prep’ date is on Wednesday, August 20 from 9:15am to 10:30am. We will be opening the doors of two of our Prep classrooms. Future Prep students can explore the rooms, try some fun activities, and meet out friendly teachers who can’t wait to say ‘hello’. RSVP details have been sent to families who have registered on our ‘wait list’. If you have missed out or need further details, please contact the school.
Get Set for Prep Morning 1:
Wednesday, August 20 – 9:15am to 10:30am Click here to register
Get Set for Prep Morning 2:
Thursday, October 16 – 9:15am to 10:30am Click here to register
Get Set for Prep Morning 3:

Orientation aims to give families opportunities to visit and familiarise themselves with the school and for our staff to get to know our future Prep students. Throughout the three mornings, children and their families will visit different Prep classrooms and have the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the school environment. Parents and carers will have the opportunity to meet our staff and to ask any questions. We look forward to welcoming you to our school!

BUILDING UNDERSTANDING
On Tuesday, our teaching staff participated in a ‘Neurodiversity and Inclusion’ workshop led by Emma Quinn, our Education Queensland Principal Advisor for Autism. The session explored the possible challenges experienced by students within the learning environment. Staff engaged in practical activities and gained and/or affirmed strategies in helping to meet the needs of neurodiverse students. We look forward to welcoming Emma and her team back in Week 6.
News from Mrs Hagley
Sports Updates
It has been a busy sporting time for our students at the start of the term with a variety of opportunities for our senior students.
Interschool Sport - We have had two really successful days at interschool sport. Our students have adapted to the new routines on a Friday and everything has gone like clockwork as the students excitedly departed on the buses. We have had positive feedback about their sportsmanship and behaviour at Netball, Rugby League, Hockey and Football (Soccer). Unfortunately, this week's fixtures were cancelled due to the weather, so our Chess Teams were unable to attend their first ‘away’ games. Fingers crossed, next week will be fine!
Futsal - A number of students from Year 3 – 6 formed three teams to represent Rangeville at the Primary School Futsal Gala Day at USQ last Monday. Mr Morris accompanied our three teams at this event and welcomed the assistance of Mr David Johnston in supporting our Futsal players. Our thanks to David for his help in making sure our students were ready and organised for all of their games. Our congratulations go to our Senior teams for their successes on the day and to our Junior team who played well all day but didn’t make the finals.
The Senior Girls team won the final against Toowoomba Christian College. The photo shows just how happy they were of their achievement.
Congratulations also to our Senior Boys Team who were Runners Up to St Mary’s in the final.

Zone Athletics Carnival
Just a reminder that the Zone Athletics for 10 – 12 year olds will take place next week on Tuesday 12 August at O’Quinn Street Oval. We have nominated a team of 51 students who should all have received information last week about their nominated events. The 1500m events took place last Wednesday and we acknowledge our students who participated so strongly.
Please remember that the school does not organise a bus on Tuesday, and we ask parents to provide transport to and from the event. Mr Morris, Mrs Murphy and Mrs Hagley will accompany the team on Tuesday. Good luck to all our athletes – we look forward to hearing of your accomplishments.

Some of our students have also been excelling on an individual level.
Congratulations to:
- Georgia G and Ian C who competing as part of the DD football (soccer) teams last weekend.
The DD Girls team came 8th and the DD Boys team came 4th which meant that Darling Downs won the Country Cup (best regional team). Well done to both Georgia and Ian for representing your school and region so well.
Both Ian and Georgia backed up on Monday to represent RSS in the Futsal competition at USQ. Sporting stars in the making!
- Eddie J who has been selected as a member of the 10 -12 years DD Softball Team. We wish Eddie the best of luck at the State Championships in Ipswich at the end of the month.
- Charlotte C who has been selected in the DD Girls Rugby League team to compete in Townsville in September. Well done, Charlotte!
Date Claimer: Junior Athletics Carnival
We are looking forward to a great day on Friday of Week 9 when our lower school students from Prep to Year 3 (only those born in 2017) participate in their annual Junior Athletics Carnival.
Please see the outline of the day below.

P&C Support for our Students…
If you have visited the school this term, you will have seen the great new tables outside of the Year 5 block. They are being put to good use every day and are much appreciated by both students and staff alike. Our thanks to the P&C for supporting our students and helping create an alternative learning space.

The new shade tents for our sports carnivals have also arrived and will be ready for use at the Junior Athletics Carnival in Week 9.

These two projects have been a practical investment from the P&C to directly support our students, and we would like to express our sincere appreciation to the P&C and wider school community for supporting the fundraising that allows for such support of our students and learning spaces!
Thank you!

Reading at Home - Shared Book Reading
Reading aloud with your child builds language development and encourages strong oral language skills that are the foundations of strong literacy skills. By the time students have mastered letter-sound correspondences and can read increasingly complex texts, children who are read to daily will have the language skills to understand what they have read.
An important aspect of shared reading is the conversation that occurs between the adult and the child during reading. Pausing while reading and taking the time to discuss the text can support your child’s oral language development. The focus of the conversation might be:
- The storyline including characters, settings and events
- Similar experiences the child has had to those that happen in the book
- Specific words and their meaning
- Aspects of print such as the direction of words, placement of images or illustrations, headings, contents pages and glossaries
- Concepts that are new to the child
When you read aloud to your child, they hear and learn lots of new and sometimes sophisticated words and sentences that they may not hear or use in everyday talk.
The best books have rich, detailed pictures and are interesting to your child. Always remember that the purpose is to stimulate rich talk between the adult and the child, not for the child to be able to read the text themselves.

QParents

QParents is a secure, online portal that has been created by the Department of Education to provide parents of Queensland state school students with 24-hour access to their child's information. The portal allows you to securely access information about your child and communicate directly with your child's school.
QParents provides secure, online access to student information such as:
- attendance details
- consent forms
- payment of invoices
- payment history
- behaviour
- report cards and assessment dates
- upcoming events
- timetables
- student photo
In addition to the information provided, it's important to note that the QParents portal only sends invoices to the parent/carer who is responsible for 100% of the student's school fees. This means that if there are multiple parents or carers who share responsibility for fees, only one of them will receive the invoice through the portal. It's important for parents and carers to communicate and coordinate payment arrangements if they are sharing the responsibility for fees.
We encourage you to register for QParents. To do this, simply express your interest by emailing admin@rangevilless@eq.edu.au or by phoning 4617 7333 and Mrs Llewellyn will email you an invitation to register (which includes your log-in code) and your child's unique EQID. Your child's EQID can also be found on your child's Semester Report Card.

Rangeville Outside School Hours Care Services
Rangeville Outside Hours School Care services are available for families if you need before school care, after school care or vacation care. If you want to know more about what is available, please contact the staff located in the Big Hall (W Block). There is also information on the P&C website www.rsspandc.com.au or email at roshc@rangevilless.eq.edu.au
Reminder to Parents
For the safety of your children and the others using the service, we need to contact parents or emergency contacts, resulting in a time lapse where we cannot find a child. This is a safety risk due to not having the staff ratios while we search for the children absent.
There are multiple ways to notify the service if your child is not attending a session:
- Record an absence via the Xplor App - go to attendance mark as absent (this is the preferred method)
- Call the service - 46177388 and leave a message
- Text through to the mobile - 0421 647 404 (leave a detailed text, Child's full name, date not attending)
- Email the service at roshc@rangevilless.eq.edu.au
If your child is absent from School, you still need to notify the service as we are independent to the school and due to Confidentiality, they are not authorised to notify us of your child's absence.
If we cannot reach the primary contact, emergency contacts are called and if these contacts cannot be reached, THE POLICE WILL BE CALLED.
If you are returning a call, please press EXT 4 to connect directly to the service. If not answered, please leave a message or text the mobile immediately.
If you do not notify us, you will incur a $5 penalty fee, as we are spending considerable time trying to find these absent children in the school grounds.
If this occurs more than 3 times, we may consider reviewing your enrolment.

Experiences
Over the last couple of weeks, the children have been enjoying challenging and problem-solving experiences. There has been a range of science experiences happening in the room with the children predicting what will happen and seeing the end results – the milk experiment has been the most popular. The children have also learnt about the human knot activity, and they were challenged with this as it involved a lot of communication and team work. We did end up achieving part of the challenge which was wonderful to see their reactions. The children have also experimented with using string to move blocks which provided the children the opportunity to explore gravity, thinking and plenty of trial and error. Outside the children have been challenged with using various obstacle courses and have enjoyed being competitive and racing each other. We will also be celebrating National Science Week – 9th -16th August and there will be a great range of activities and experiences occurring throughout that week that will extend on the children’s knowledge and learning new concepts.
Vacation Care Spring
We have also begun planning for the Spring Vacation Care which is coming up quite quickly. We have such an exciting range of incursions, excursions and theme days for the children to enjoy. Look out for the program to be emailed later in the term.
Lost Property
Families can you please ensure that your child’s belongings are labelled and easily read as this ensures that they can be returned to the rightful owner. We have a large range of lost property at the moment at ROSHC, and the pink containers are located in the foyer. If your child is missing something, can you please check this regularly. Every Friday we do take unnamed belongings down to the section on the veranda where the school’s property is located.
Bookings
Please be aware you will only be able to make bookings if you have your account all set up with us, so please ensure you have finished the enrolment process first. If you would like permanent bookings, email our office roshc@rangevilless.eq.edu.au and we can talk to you about this and if we have available spaces, we can arrange those bookings for you in xplor. If you are wanting casual bookings this is done via the xplor app, and you will be notified of the outcome via the app and an email or phone call if unable to accept the booking. If you are unsure on how to do casual bookings please come and see the office educators and we can help you, or alternatively all the information on this is in the setup of the xplor app. Please notify us via email if any of your details have changed and we will update them in our system.
Absentees
If you have a booking at the service and your child goes home early from school, is absent or not coming for either BSC or ASC please let us know via your Xplor app (preferred option) or email roshc@rangevilless.eq.edu.au as soon as possible. You can also notify us via the phone 46177388 or our mobile number 0421 647 404. Please note there will be a $5 fee added if you do not inform us that your child/ren are going to be absent and we need to phone you on that particular afternoon.
Looking for Educators
If you have any family members, friends or know of anyone who is interested in working in Outside School Hours Care, please inform us or encourage them to contact us via email or phone. We are looking for new educators to join our thriving and innovative team.
Thanks
ROSHC Team
Lost Property

Please remember if your child/ren has misplaced a jumper, hat or lunchbox and water bottle it may be located near the Uniform shop on the verandah. We encourage you to please clearly name the items as we have volunteers who sort and return to classes.
Any items of great value such as glasses, watches etc will be handed into the office for collection.
