Principal's Celebration

As we approach the final weeks of Term 2, our classrooms are abuzz with the energy and focus that come with end-of-term assessment and report card writing. This period is a significant part of the teaching and learning cycle, allowing teachers to gather a clear picture of each student’s progress and growth across the semester.
Teachers have been working diligently to ensure that assessment is not only accurate but meaningful – providing students with the opportunity to demonstrate their learning in a variety of ways. Report cards, which will be sent home at the end of the term, reflect this effort. They provide families with valuable insights into student achievement and development across all learning areas.
It’s important to remember that a report card is just one part of the broader picture of your child’s learning journey. We encourage families to take the time to read through the report and celebrate the progress and efforts made.
I’d like to acknowledge our dedicated team for the time, thought, and professionalism they invest into this process. Their commitment to every student’s learning continues to be evident in the quality of feedback and care shown in their reporting.
As always, if you have any questions after reading your child’s report, our teachers are happy to discuss these with you early next term.
Thank you for your ongoing support as we work together to ensure the best outcomes for our students.
Staffing Updates
Congratulations to Michelle Briese, our Year 6B teacher, who has been appointed as Head of Department - Curriculum for the Maryvale Cluster until the end of 2026. This is a wonderful and well-deserved opportunity for Michelle and I am sure you will join me in wishing her the very best.
This appointment highlights the valuable opportunities available for our teachers to step into leadership roles within and beyond our school. It is fantastic to see our staff recognised for their expertise and passion for education.
Jessica Doyle will be joining our Year 6 team for Semester Two. Jessica joins us from Wyreema SS. Jessica will join our Year 6 teachers for our Planning Days in Week 10. 6B families will receive an introductory letter from Jessica early next week.
We also welcome Chloe Hibbins to our Cleaning team beginning Monday 23 June.
We have a number of teachers taking various short periods of leave during Term 3. We will keep classes updated with the details of replacing teachers in the coming weeks.

Sporting Super Stars
Congratulations to our Rangeville students at the recent Touch Football Trials. They played well, but unfortunately didn’t make the team this time.
Congratulations to Isla and her DD Hockey Team who won silver in a great game against Metro North 3 - 2. She played so well!!

Parent and Community Code of Conduct
A Parent and Community Code of Conduct has been developed to support schools as safe and respectful places and to clearly communicate the conduct expected of parents, carers and visitors while on state school grounds, at school activities and interacting with others in the school community.
Thank you for recognising and supporting the shared responsibility to keep our schools safe and respectful - a safe learning environment for your child/ren and a safe workplace for our staff.
Before School Expectations
Thank you for your support of our before school expectations for all students. Staff are rostered on duty in particular areas before the school day begins. Please note: Students are not permitted on school grounds before 8:15am unless arranged with staff and the Principal (for example: Instrumental Music practice).
Please contact ROSCH for before school care options if you need to drop your child prior to 8:15am.
Please review our before school expectations outlined below:
PREP STUDENTS ONLY: | |
8:15am | Prep students move to the Prep/Year 1 playground where staff are on duty. Parents/Carers who choose to wait for the school bell are asked to assist with supervision of their own child on the playground. |
YEARS 1-6 STUDENTS: | |
8:15am | Years 1-6 students move to the Undercover Area (near the rainforest) where staff are on duty. Parents/Carers who choose to wait for the school bell are asked to have children sitting quietly in their line up area. |
ALL STUDENTS | |
8:40am | Bell rings and students move to their class line up area. |
8:45am | School begins. |
9:00am | Arrival after 9am requires students signed in by a Parent/Carer at the office. Teachers will send students who arrive after 9am to the office if they don’t have a late slip. |
9:30 – 10:00am | Unexplained absence texts sent from the office. |
Dogs on school grounds
For the safety and comfort of all students, staff, and families, we kindly remind our community that dogs are not permitted on school grounds during drop-off and pick-up times, unless they are registered assistance animals or have prior permission from the Principal.
While we understand that dogs are much-loved family members, having them on school grounds can create safety risks and discomfort for some students. To support a safe and welcoming environment for all, we ask that:
Dogs remain outside the school fence at all times.
If walking your dog to school, please secure them at a safe distance from gates and walkways.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping keep our school grounds safe and inclusive for everyone.

READING TOGETHER EVERY DAY: A POWERFUL HABIT
One of the most powerful things you can do to support your child’s learning is to read with them every day. Reading together at home builds your child’s language, imagination and confidence. It doesn’t need to be formal or take a long time – even just 10 – 15 minutes a day makes a big difference.
Why daily reading matters:
- It builds vocabulary
Children hear new words and phrases they might not come across in everyday conversation.
- It supports comprehension
Talking about the story helps your child understand what they’re reading.
- It grows oral language
Reading aloud together encourages questions, prediction and discussion.
- It strengthens your bond
Shared stories create calm, connection, and routines.
Remember to read with expression and have fun with voices! Talk about the pictures and ask open ended questions. Celebrate all attempts at reading. Make reading fun!
EVERY DAY COUNTS!

PBL Reward
Week 10 sees the school celebrating positive behaviour choices with our end of term rewards. Please see the information below for activities and dates each year level will be celebrating together.

Talking about school: why children sometimes find it hard
‘How was school?’ is a big question. To answer, your child has to sum up a whole day, and that’s often hard to do.
Your child might really want to say, ‘My day was so jam-packed with ideas and classes and social stuff that I don’t know where to start’. So it’s easier for them just to say, ‘OK’.
When your child first gets home from school in the afternoon, they’ll probably be tired and hungry or thinking about other things. So easing the transition from school or after-school activities to home can help your child feel more like talking.
It’s best to avoid asking your child a lot of questions straight away – this can be overwhelming for your child. You can just let your child know that you’re glad to see them and talk about non-school topics for a while.
When they are ready to talk, simple, positive and specific questions about parts of the day can get your child talking. It’s good to use questions that invite more than a ‘yes’, ‘no’ or ‘OK’ response. For example:
- What’s the news from school today?
- What was fun?
- What did you like best at school today?
- What does your classroom look like at the moment?
- What did you do in class after first break?
- Who did you hang out with today?
- What subjects did you do today?
- What topics are you working on in science at the moment?
Tips for talking about school with primary school children
- Make time to talk. This can often be when you’re doing something with your child. For example, your child might like to talk when you’re walking the dog or preparing dinner together.
- Give your child your full attention if they want to talk with you about their day.
- Take seriously whatever your child tells you. For example, you can say things like, ‘That’s interesting. Then what happened?’ or ‘And how do you feel about that?’
- Use respectful language when you talk about the school and teachers with or in front of your child. For example, ‘I can see that’s frustrating, but Ms Adams is your teacher, and you need to speak respectfully to her’, or ‘Yes, that seems unfair, but perhaps you don’t know the whole story’.
When you’re in touch with your child’s feelings about school, you’re more likely to see problems before they get too big. This way you can work on overcoming challenges together.
Every afternoon or evening can be different. Even if your child usually likes to share their day with you, there’ll probably be days when they don’t want to talk. Sometimes it’s a matter of sensing your child’s mood and picking the right moment. Some days there might not be a right moment at all, and that’s OK.
Senior Athletics Carnival
Please find attached an overview of the timetable for the upcoming Senior Athletics Carnival in Week 9. Students born from 2013 - 2016 will be involved in this carnival. Students are welcome to wear their house colours on each day.
Please direct all enquiries to Mr Tony Morris at tmorr170@eq.edu.au
QParents

QParents is a secure, online portal that has been created by the Department of Education to provide parents of Queensland state school students with 24-hour access to their child's information. The portal allows you to securely access information about your child and communicate directly with your child's school.
QParents provides secure, online access to student information such as:
- attendance details
- consent forms
- payment of invoices
- payment history
- behaviour
- report cards and assessment dates
- upcoming events
- timetables
- student photo
In addition to the information provided, it's important to note that the QParents portal only sends invoices to the parent/carer who is responsible for 100% of the student's school fees. This means that if there are multiple parents or carers who share responsibility for fees, only one of them will receive the invoice through the portal. It's important for parents and carers to communicate and coordinate payment arrangements if they are sharing the responsibility for fees.
We encourage you to register for QParents. To do this, simply express your interest by emailing mllew16@eq.edu.au or by phoning 4617 7333 and Mrs Llewellyn will email you an invitation to register (which includes your log-in code) and your child's unique EQID. Your child's EQID can also be found on your child's Semester Report Card.

Rangeville Outside School Hours Care Services
Rangeville Outside Hours School Care services are available for families if you need before school care, after school care or vacation care. If you want to know more about what is available, please contact the staff located in the Big Hall (W Block). There is also information on the P&C website www.rsspandc.com.au or email at roshc@rangevilless.eq.edu.au
Reminder to Parents
For the safety of your children and the others using the service, we need to contact parents or emergency contacts, resulting in a time lapse where we cannot find a child. This is a safety risk due to not having the staff ratios while we search for the children absent.
There are multiple ways to notify the service if your child is not attending a session:
- Record an absence via the Xplor App - go to attendance mark as absent (this is the preferred method)
- Call the service - 46177388 and leave a message
- Text through to the mobile - 0421 647 404 (leave a detailed text, Child's full name, date not attending)
- Email the service at roshc@rangevilless.eq.edu.au
If your child is absent from School, you still need to notify the service as we are independent to the school and due to Confidentiality, they are not authorised to notify us of your child's absence.
If we cannot reach the primary contact, emergency contacts are called and if these contacts cannot be reached, THE POLICE WILL BE CALLED.
If you are returning a call, please press EXT 4 to connect directly to the service. If not answered, please leave a message or text the mobile immediately.
If you do not notify us, you will incur a $5 penalty fee, as we are spending considerable time trying to find these absent children in the school grounds.
If this occurs more than 3 times, we may consider reviewing your enrolment.

Experiences
During the last couple of weeks of this term, the children will be engaging in a range of different experiences involving social interactions, their emotional wellbeing and exploring their identity. This is in the forms of the children getting to know each other more, including other peers in their play, forming different friendships and exploring their favourite games and experiences.
Vacation Care
Winter Vacation Care bookings are open from Friday 13th June at 6pm. Families please make sure your bookings are done via the Xplor App and the permission forms are filled out, signed and returned and emailed as soon as possible. Families can we also ensure that children throughout Vacation care have appropriate footwear and clothing for the weather – enclosed footwear, sun safe broad brimmed hat, spare clothes and a water bottle.
Lost Property
Families can you please ensure that your child’s belongings are labelled and easily read as this ensures that they can be returned to the rightful owner. We have a large range of lost property at the moment at ROSHC and the pink containers are located in the foyer. If your child is missing something, can you please check this regularly. Every Friday we do take unnamed belongings down to the section on the veranda where the school’s property is located.
Bookings
Please be aware you will only be able to make bookings if you have your account all set up with us, so please ensure you have finished the enrolment process first. If you would like permanent bookings, email our office roshc@rangevilless.eq.edu.au and we can talk to you about this and if we have available spaces we can arrange those bookings for you in xplor. If you are wanting casual bookings this is done via the xplor app and you will be notified of the outcome via the app and an email or phone call if unable to accept the booking. If you are unsure on how to do casual bookings please come and see the office educators and we can help you, or alternatively all the information on this is in the setup of the xplor app. Please notify us via email if any of your details have changed and we will update them in our system.
Absentees
If you have a booking at the service and your child goes home early from school, is absent or not coming for either BSC or ASC please let us know via your Xplor app (preferred option) or email roshc@rangevilless.eq.edu.au as soon as possible. You can also notify us via the phone 46177388 or our mobile number 0421 647 404. Please note there will be a $5 fee added if you do not inform us that your child/ren are going to be absent and we need to phone you on that particular afternoon.

Thanks,
ROSHC Team
