Mother's Day Stall
Thanks to our wonderful organiser Gemma Rasmussen, we were delighted to offer a very well supported Mother's Day stall again this year. Thank you to our community for donating items and supporting the return of this event.
Special thanks to helpers Nicky, Andrew, Eden, Leanne & Marita who volunteered their time to set up the stall and help students with their shopping.
Election Day BBQ
Thank you to our P&C Executive, Andrew, Ann-Maree, Emma & Tamer and Tuckshop & Uniform Shop Coordinator, Nicky for organising our Election Day BBQ.
Thank you to volunteers, Ann-Maree, David & James Hagen, Tamer Yazji, Emma Riebelt, Dan Lindenmayer, Reece Neumann, Andrew Rasmussen who gave up part of their long weekend to cook and serve sausages and drinks!
On behalf of our school community, I thank our amazing P&C for their ongoing support of our school through community events like these.

Music Marvels
It has been a HUGE fortnight for our choirs. On Monday 12 May, we welcomed esteemed conductor Timothy Sherlock for our Choir Workshops. That evening, our Small Group and Year 5/6 choirs performed at Centenary Heights State High School. On Friday evening, the choirs also performed beautifully at the Toowoomba Eisteddfod. Thank you to our students and Mr Henry for your extraordinary efforts!

Congratulations to Rose (4C) who competed for the first time in the Toowoomba Eisteddfod on Saturday night, with her Mum (Christie). They sang 'Still holding my hand' from Matilda and came second in the Open Music Theatre Ensemble (2-4 singers) section with a very high score of 91.

News from Mrs Griffiths
UNDER 8s DAY
Our Under 8s Day of Wednesday, May 21st is fast approaching. This event will be held in our Prep/ Year 1 playground from 9:15am - 10:30am. Our teachers have planned so many fun activities, including a bubble disco, soccer, pasta necklaces, play doh, water play, box construction, sensory tubs, crowns, painting and so much more! This presents a fantastic opportunity for your Pre-Prep child/children to not only mingle with our friendly teachers and explore our Prep classrooms, but also to join in all the activities alongside their peers. We look forward to welcoming you to our Under 8s!

THANK YOU TO OUR SCHOOL COMMUNITY MEMBERS!
This week, our school was delighted to receive some beautiful hand-made resources for our students: sets of tic-tac-toe games and a weighted lap mat. These thoughtful resources will help to make a positive impact for students, providing both sensory support and opportunities for calm, focused play. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Mrs Jones, Miss Grenning, Anderson Building and Carpentry and the Toowoomba Women’s Shed for their collaboration. Your kindness and care are very much appreciated!
News from Mrs Hagley
School Photos
A reminder that this week sees our annual school photos being taken on Thursday 22 May. We ask that all students (from Yr 1 – 6) wear their formal uniform. Preps are to wear their usual sports uniform.
Some sibling photos will be taken before school and the rest will be taken after second break. More detail to come during the week. If families have media restrictions regarding individuals being part of group/class photos, you are asked to contact Mrs Hagley at shagl1@eq.edu.au to confirm your preferences.
Information about online ordering was sent out earlier but can be accessed as outlined in the accompanying flyer.
Berry Street Education Model
We continue to implement the Berry Street Education Model (BSEM) here at Rangeville State School. The BSEM is based on classroom strategies informed by Berry Street's approaches to trauma-informed learning and the science of wellbeing.
It has been designed by teachers and education leaders for use by all school staff. BSEM compliments and extends our well established PBL (Positive Behaviour for Learning) strategies and processes and forms part of our whole school approach to Student Wellbeing & Behaviour Support. This education model helps us to help our students by
- creating a supportive and trauma-informed positive education classroom
- bolstering student-teacher relationships
- instilling strengths-based practices across the school
- understanding the impacts of trauma on child development and the ability to learn.
Some of the whole-school strategies that have been implemented are Brain Breaks, Morning Circles and Ready to Learn Scales.
* Brain breaks are mental breaks designed to help students stay focused and attentive. The brain breaks get students moving to carry blood and oxygen to the brain. The breaks can either energize or relax as required.
* Morning circles are a daily routine that includes rhythmic activities, healthy touch, positive affirmations, intention setting and gratitude reflections.
* Ready to Learn Scales are a standard system used by students in classrooms to identify difficult emotions or stress, both collectively and individually. In classrooms, we develop Ready to Learn Plans to help with self-regulation for our students as learners and members of our school community.
These school wide strategies help our students meet our PBL expectations of being Safe, Respectful Learners.
Living History Incursion
On Wednesday 30 April, Year 4 students participated in a Living History Incursion. During this presentation, students enjoyed dressing up and exploring various artefacts from early Australian settlement. They also interacted with characters from the past to learn first-hand what life was like during this time.

Chess Lessons

A chess competition is up and running for students participating in chess lessons this term. Check out the changing leader board in the library. If your child would like to join chess lessons in term three, please email Mrs Prue Cunningham pcunn1@eq.edu.au.
Classroom News
1L
Maths Fun in 1L. This term we are learning to partition numbers, what better way to do it then with hands on games. We love being able to use our own MAB set to make 2-digit numbers and also working in groups consolidating what we know by playing some games together.

The Opti-MINDS Challenge

This year Rangeville is going to participate in the Opti-MINDS Challenge. Miss Olsen will be facilitating the challenge this year, so please let her know if this sparks your interest. Keep an eye out in the newsletter in the next few months for more information regarding expressions of interest and commitment.
In a world where the ‘facts’ change daily – we need to change our thinking! Opti-MINDS IS the PROCESS of CHANGE…The opportunity to Opti-MISE your thinking for Opti-MUM performance!
Opti-MINDS is a process of PREVENTION – rather than a damage control; it instils a proactive mindset of:
- Capability – “Can Do!”
- Responsibility – “If not me – then who?”
- Creativity & Innovation; &
- Unashamed EXCELLENCE, within participants; encouraging them to REALISE their own capacity and responsibility to ‘MAKE the DIFFERENCE’ for themselves – & to come from an “IF NOT, WHY NOT?” stance.

QParents

QParents is a secure, online portal that has been created by the Department of Education to provide parents of Queensland state school students with 24-hour access to their child's information. The portal allows you to securely access information about your child and communicate directly with your child's school.
QParents provides secure, online access to student information such as:
- attendance details
- consent forms
- payment of invoices
- payment history
- behaviour
- report cards and assessment dates
- upcoming events
- timetables
- student photo
In addition to the information provided, it's important to note that the QParents portal only sends invoices to the parent/carer who is responsible for 100% of the student's school fees. This means that if there are multiple parents or carers who share responsibility for fees, only one of them will receive the invoice through the portal. It's important for parents and carers to communicate and coordinate payment arrangements if they are sharing the responsibility for fees.
We encourage you to register for QParents. To do this, simply express your interest by emailing mllew16@eq.edu.au or by phoning 4617 7333 and Mrs Llewellyn will email you an invitation to register (which includes your log-in code) and your childs unique EQID. Your child's EQID can also be found on your child's Semester Report Card.

Rangeville Outside School Hours Care Services
Rangeville Outside Hours School Care services are available for families if you need before school care, after school care or vacation care. If you want to know more about what is available, please contact the staff located in the Big Hall (W Block). There is also information on the P&C website www.rsspandc.com.au or email at roshc@rangevilless.eq.edu.au
Reminder to Parents
For the safety of your children and the others using the service, we need to contact parents or emergency contacts, resulting in a time lapse where we cannot find a child. This is a safety risk due to not having the staff ratios while we search for the children absent.
There are multiple ways to notify the service if your child is not attending a session:
- Record an absence via the Xplor App - go to attendance mark as absent (this is the preferred method)
- Call the service - 46177388 and leave a message
- Text through to the mobile - 0421 647 404 (leave a detailed text, Child's full name, date not attending)
- Email the service at roshc@rangevilless.eq.edu.au
If your child is absent from School, you still need to notify the service as we are independent to the school and due to Confidentiality, they are not authorised to notify us of your child's absence.
If we cannot reach the primary contact, emergency contacts are called and if these contacts cannot be reached, THE POLICE WILL BE CALLED.
If you are returning a call, please press EXT 4 to connect directly to the service. If not answered, please leave a message or text the mobile immediately.
If you do not notify us, you will incur a $5 penalty fee, as we are spending considerable time trying to find these absent children in the school grounds.
If this occurs more than 3 times, we may consider reviewing your enrolment.

Lost Property
Families can you please ensure that your child’s belongings are labelled and easily read as this ensures that they can be returned to the rightful owner. We have a large range of lost property at the moment at ROSHC and the pink containers are located in the foyer. If your child is missing something, can you please check this regularly. Every Friday we do take unnamed belongings down to the section on the veranda where the school’s property is located.
Bookings
Please be aware you will only be able to make bookings if you have your account all set up with us, so please ensure you have finished the enrolment process first. If you would like permanent bookings, email our office roshc@rangevilless.eq.edu.au and we can talk to you about this and if we have available spaces we can arrange those bookings for you in xplor. If you are wanting casual bookings this is done via the xplor app and you will be notified of the outcome via the app and an email or phone call if unable to accept the booking. If you are unsure on how to do casual bookings please come and see the office educators and we can help you, or alternatively all the information on this is in the setup of the xplor app. Please notify us via email if any of your details have changed and we will update them in our system.
Absentees
If you have a booking at the service and your child goes home early from school, is absent or not coming for either BSC or ASC please let us know via your Xplor app (preferred option) or email roshc@rangevilless.eq.edu.au as soon as possible. You can also notify us via the phone 46177388 or our mobile number 0421 647 404. Please note there will be a $5 fee added if you do not inform us that your child/ren are going to be absent and we need to phone you on that particular afternoon.
Thanks,
ROSHC Team
