Principal's Celebration

Welcome back to Term Two! I hope you enjoyed a restful and relaxing Easter break. It has been wonderful to see students back and ready for another term of learning, achieving and growing together.
This term is already proving to be a busy term with a range of academic, sporting and cultural activities planned throughout the 10 weeks.
Please check the Year Events Calendar and our Term Calendar in the newsletter for upcoming events.
ANZAC Day
Thank you to all members of our school community who were able to attend our ANZAC Day Ceremony. It was a privilege to come together to honour the service and sacrifice of our veterans and current service personnel.
A heartfelt thanks to Mrs Hagley for planning and leading such a respectful, thoughtful and moving service. Her care and attention to detail ensured a meaningful experience for all involved.
Thank you also to our students and staff for their contributions in creating a reflective and respectful atmosphere.
Special thanks to Mr Henry for his ongoing efforts with our Music program. I am constantly reminded of the profound impact our music students have on our school and community. Their performances during the ANZAC Day Ceremony were beautiful.
Thank you for your purchases of poppies and pins before our ANZAC Day Ceremony. 100% of sales has been donated to the Toowoomba RSL.
Toowoomba Range Zone Cross Country
On Monday 28 April, 25 Rangeville State School students participated in the Range Zone Cross Country.
Congratulations to Ava G, Audrey S, Larni W & Diego R who have been selected to compete in the Darling Downs trials.
Parent/Teacher Interviews - Term One
Thank you to all Parents and Carers for attending our scheduled Parent/Teacher Interview at the end of last term. These conversations are a valuable opportunity to strengthen the partnership between home and school, supporting each child's learning journey. We appreciate your time, engagement and insights. Working together helps us ensure the best outcomes for students. We are grateful for your ongoing support.

School Uniform
The weather is certainly starting to cool! We ask for your help to ensure students are wearing the correct school uniform, including appropriate winter items.
School jumpers, tracksuits and jackets are expected in line with our winter uniform policy which includes navy blue fleece jumpers and spray jackets and dark navy blue trackpants.
We understand that on occasion students may not have access to the items with the school logo. However, we ask that at all times, students are wearing the school colours.
Please also take time to check all items are clearly labelled! This allows us to return lost property to the owner.
Our Uniform Shop is open Mondays & Tuesdays 8:30 - 9:00am and Wednesdays 2:30 - 3:15pm.
If you need assistance with uniform items, please don’t hesitate to contact the office or Nicky in the Uniform Shop — we’re here to help!
Thank you for supporting our efforts to maintain a sense of pride and belonging in our school community.
Interhouse Cross Country / Fun Run
On Friday, we held our 2025 Interhouse Cross Country / Fun Run - a fantastic day filled with energy, school spirit and SUNSHINE!
Thank you to Mr Morris for his preparation and coordination of the event. We also extend our gratitude to the many parents and family members who came along to cheer students on - your support makes these events even more special.
Congratulations to all students for their participation and engagement throughout the day! Medallions for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place were awarded at the end of each event. House points have been totalled and will be announced at parade on Friday.
Thank you to everyone who supported the P&C Fundraiser connected with our Fun Run. Fundraising packs will be sent home with students on Monday and Tuesday next week. A special congratulations to 4M, the class who raised the most funds - well done!
Guidance Officer Week
28 April to 9 May is Guidance Officer Week. It is a time to highlight the important role that Guidance Officers play within our schools.
Support provided by Guidance Officers includes advice and counselling on educational, behavioural, vocational, personal, social, family, and mental health and wellbeing issues. Psychoeducational assessments also form an important part of their role. Additionally, Guidance Officers provide leadership, support and case management in responding to some of the most complex and challenging of circumstances.
Peta Shevlin is our Guidance Officer at Rangeville every Tuesday and Wednesday. Thank you, Peta for all that you do for our students, families and staff! Your expertise and care makes a real difference in our school community.
Mother's Day
Thanks to our wonderful volunteers, the P&C Mother’s Day Stall will be back in 2025. Open Wednesday 7, Thursday 8 and Friday 9 May!
Thank you to our community for your Mother's Day Stall gift donations.
On behalf of our school community, I'd like to celebrate and thank all the incredible mothers, grandmothers and mother-figures in our school community. Your love, encouragement, strength and unwavering support makes a world of different in the lives of your children and our school.
On behalf of the staff, we wish you a wonderful day and hope you feel truly appreciated this Mother's Day!

PREP INFORMATON NIGHT
On Wednesday evening, our school welcomed 44 current and prospective families to our annual Prep Information Night. The event provided a valuable opportunity for parent and carers to learn more about our Prep program and the exciting start to school life that we offer at Rangeville. A big thank you to Mrs Holmes and Mrs Kumar who helped to guide parents through our engaging learning spaces firsthand. Families were given insights into the daily routine, curriculum focus areas and the many ways we support students’ transition to school. Prep enrolment interviews will be held next term. Families are encouraged to lodge their enrolment forms now.
UNDER 8s DAY
Our intended Under 8s event was postponed due to Cyclone Alfred. The new date of Wednesday, May 21st is fast approaching. Our Under 8s activities will be held in our Prep/ Year 1 playground from 9:15am - 10:30am. This event is an excellent opportunity to meet our teachers, see our facilities first hand and find out more about our school.
The current Prep and Year One students will also be in attendance, taking part in a range of fun and exciting activities around the school. This presents a fantastic opportunity for your Pre-Prep child/children to not only mingle with our friendly teachers and explore our Prep classrooms, but also to join in all the activities alongside their peers. We look forward to welcoming you to our Under 8s!
BEFORE SCHOOL REMINDER
We appreciate the support of all our families in ensuring our before-school routines run smoothly. Students are directed to wait in the Year 2/3 undercover area prior to the bell. Supervising staff are present in this area from 8:20am onwards. Students can sit talking to their friends or walk around the Year 2/3 oval. Prep students have supervised access to their playground at this time as well. Parents/carers who choose to wait with their child/children prior to the bell are asked to ensure that the Rangeville way of respect and safety is followed.
Little builders, big impact: Helping families in Cambodia
Hello,
We are Lachlan (grade 5) and Zoe (grade 2). In June, we are travelling to Cambodia with our parents and some other families to help build a school and houses for people who are some of the poorest in the country. These families are currently living in the slums of Phnom Penh and don't have a safe house to live in. Some are even sleeping in canoes on the river.
We are volunteering with RAW Impact, a Toowoomba-based not-for-profit organisation. There are lots of jobs we can help with to build the bamboo houses - even though we are kids. We are also helping to build a school as many of the children aren't able to go to school and learn like we can.
To help make this possible, we have set a fundraising goal of $2500. This money will help to pay for the building materials and equipment we will use when we are there. The Student Council is also helping us out with fundraising.
We would love your support. If you are able to make a donation, it would mean a lot to us and the families we are helping. All donations are tax deductible: https://every-piece-matters-cambodia-2025.raiselysite.com/cocks-family
Thank you very much.
Lachlan and Zoe

We have been learning about the features of information texts. We worked in pairs and used magnifying glasses to spot contents pages, labels, headings, photographs and glossaries. We used the iPads to capture these features to add to our learning wall.

The Opti-MINDS Challenge

This year Rangeville is going to participate in the Opti-MINDS Challenge. Miss Olsen will be facilitating the challenge this year, so please let her know if this sparks your interest. Keep an eye out in the newsletter in the next few months for more information regarding expressions of interest and commitment.
In a world where the ‘facts’ change daily – we need to change our thinking! Opti-MINDS IS the PROCESS of CHANGE…The opportunity to Opti-MISE your thinking for Opti-MUM performance!
Opti-MINDS is a process of PREVENTION – rather than a damage control; it instils a proactive mindset of:
- Capability – “Can Do!”
- Responsibility – “If not me – then who?”
- Creativity & Innovation; &
- Unashamed EXCELLENCE, within participants; encouraging them to REALISE their own capacity and responsibility to ‘MAKE the DIFFERENCE’ for themselves – & to come from an “IF NOT, WHY NOT?” stance.

QParents

QParents is a secure, online portal that has been created by the Department of Education to provide parents of Queensland state school students with 24-hour access to their child's information. The portal allows you to securely access information about your child and communicate directly with your child's school.
QParents provides secure, online access to student information such as:
- attendance details
- consent forms
- payment of invoices
- payment history
- behaviour
- report cards and assessment dates
- upcoming events
- timetables
- student photo
In addition to the information provided, it's important to note that the QParents portal only sends invoices to the parent/carer who is responsible for 100% of the student's school fees. This means that if there are multiple parents or carers who share responsibility for fees, only one of them will receive the invoice through the portal. It's important for parents and carers to communicate and coordinate payment arrangements if they are sharing the responsibility for fees.
We encourage you to register for QParents. To do this, simply express your interest by emailing mllew16@eq.edu.au or by phoning 4617 733 and Mrs Llewellyn will email you an invitation to register (which includes your log-in code) and your childs unique EQID. Your child's EQID can also be found on your child's Semester Report Card.

Did you know….
If your child plays a sport and they qualify to progress to Darling Downs level, State Level or National level, the P&C offer grants to support the family with travel, accommodation or other related fees. All you need to do is fill in the form and email it to pandc@rangevilless.eq.edu.au

Rangeville Outside School Hours Care Services
Rangeville Outside Hours School Care services are available for families if you need before school care, after school care or vacation care. If you want to know more about what is available, please contact the staff located in the Big Hall (W Block). There is also information on the P&C website www.rsspandc.com.au or email at roshc@rangevilless.eq.edu.au
Reminder to Parents
For the safety of your children and the others using the service, we need to contact parents or emergency contacts, resulting in a time lapse where we cannot find a child. This is a safety risk due to not having the staff ratios while we search for the children absent.
There are multiple ways to notify the service if your child is not attending a session:
- Record an absence via the Xplor App - go to attendance mark as absent (this is the preferred method)
- Call the service - 46177388 and leave a message
- Text through to the mobile - 0421 647 404 (leave a detailed text, Child's full name, date not attending)
- Email the service at roshc@rangevilless.eq.edu.au
If your child is absent from School, you still need to notify the service as we are independent to the school and due to Confidentiality, they are not authorised to notify us of your child's absence.
If we cannot reach the primary contact, emergency contacts are called and if these contacts cannot be reached, THE POLICE WILL BE CALLED.
If you are returning a call, please press EXT 4 to connect directly to the service. If not answered, please leave a message or text the mobile immediately.
If you do not notify us, you will incur a $5 penalty fee, as we are spending considerable time trying to find these absent children in the school grounds.
If this occurs more than 3 times, we may consider reviewing your enrolment.

Vacation Care
Thank you to all our families that joined us for the two weeks of Autumn Vacation Care. We had lots of themed days and a range of activities throughout the two weeks. The children had so much fun with lots of games and many different creations were taken home. We enjoyed the many incursions and excursions we had throughout the two weeks. The children find these exciting and we look forward to providing these opportunities for them. The feedback from families was that the range of experiences and days were exciting and they loved telling you all about their time. We are always looking for ideas and suggestions for activities so if you have any please let one of the Educators know as we begin planning for the Winter Vacation Care. We would like to thank Bec for all that she does with planning the menu for Vacation Care and ensuring that there is a variety of foods that link in with our themed days.
New Faces
We would like to welcome some new Educators to ROSHC, and you would have seen their friendly faces around the place over Vacation Care. Rhi, Will and Alex have joined us, and they have been getting to know the children and creating some fun and engaging activities. If you see them, please say hi and introduce yourselves. We cannot wait to see what they bring to ROSCH as they bring new ideas and experiences to our program.
Lost Property
Families can you please ensure that your child’s belongings are labelled and easily read as this ensures that they can be returned to the rightful owner. We have a large range of lost property at the moment at ROSHC and the pink containers are located in the foyer. If your child is missing something, can you please check this regularly. Every Friday we do take unnamed belongings down to the section on the veranda where the school’s property is located.
Bookings
Please be aware you will only be able to make bookings if you have your account all set up with us, so please ensure you have finished the enrolment process first. If you would like permanent bookings, email our office roshc@rangevilless.eq.edu.au and we can talk to you about this and if we have available spaces we can arrange those bookings for you in xplor. If you are wanting casual bookings this is done via the xplor app and you will be notified of the outcome via the app and an email or phone call if unable to accept the booking. If you are unsure on how to do casual bookings please come and see the office educators and we can help you, or alternatively all the information on this is in the setup of the xplor app. Please notify us via email if any of your details have changed and we will update them in our system.
Absentees
If you have a booking at the service and your child goes home early from school, is absent or not coming for either BSC or ASC please let us know via your Xplor app (preferred option) or email roshc@rangevilless.eq.edu.au as soon as possible. You can also notify us via the phone 46177388 or our mobile number 0421 647 404. Please note there will be a $5 fee added if you do not inform us that your child/ren are going to be absent and we need to phone you on that particular afternoon.
Thanks
