Principal's Celebration

Thank you for supporting our dual celebrations with Lots of Socks and Harmony Day yesterday.
Harmony Day is a day to celebrate inclusivity, diversity and harmony. Special thanks to Mrs Tay for her efforts in organising this year's incursion and Harmony Day parade.
Lots of Socks is an initiative focused on acceptance of all differences to raise awareness for Down Syndrome Australia. Socks come in all shapes, sizes and designs, just like each of us!
Student Leaders
Congratulations to our Student Leaders on a fantastic start to their roles in 2025. From preparation of weekly parade items to seeking ideas and input from other students, I have been impressed by the focus and commitment to their roles. They continue to set a great example for our school community. Thank you Thomas, Sally, Lorelai & Georgia!

News from Mrs Griffiths
ATTENDANCE MATTERS!
Attending school every day is one of the most important factors in a child’s academic success. Regular attendance helps children build strong learning habits, stay connected with classmates, and develop important life skills.
Parents can assist with attendance by:
- Setting a consistent bedtime and morning routine to make getting to school easier
- Schedule appointments outside of school wherever possible
- Talk to your child about the importance of attendance and staying engaged in learning
- If your child is struggling with school, speak with their teacher for support.
Every school day is an opportunity to learn, achieve and grow!
PREP CHRONICLE PHOTO DAY!
Thank you to our fabulous Preps who posed for their photos for the Chronicle. I can’t wait to see the newspaper! Mr Farmer said that you had great manners! 😊
News from Mrs Hagley
NAPLAN
Congratulations to our students in Years 3 and 5 who participated in NAPLAN testing, led brilliantly by our class teachers and Mrs Williams. Our students displayed a positive, can-do attitude towards NAPLAN and we are very proud of their displays of resilience throughout the last two weeks.
PBL END OF TERM REWARD
In Week 10, we will be hosting our end of term PBL rewards events. At the end of each term we recognise and thank all of our students who demonstrate consistent, independent and appropriate behaviour that meets our school’s expectation of being safe, respectful learners.
Please keep an eye out for an email early next week for information about the date and time in Week 10 for each year level’s reward day.
Classroom News
In Prep KV we have been learning the sounds 's', 'a', 't', 'p', 'i', 'n'. We have been working hard on identifying the sound each letter makes, writing the letters and blending them together to read and write words.
We are very lucky to have beautiful parent helpers who come in to help us with our reading. Here you can see Reading Buddies Lorelei and Audrey with her mum Jess and little brother Arthur - who loves reading already and he's not even 2!
We have also been learning to count from 0 up to 20 and recognise written numbers up to 10. We love using play dough in lots of different ways in our class!

CHESS - Rangeville students participated in the Toowoomba Chess Championships on Tuesday, competing alongside over 300 students from across the region. They demonstrated excellent sportsmanship and proudly represented our school. The event was filled with exciting matches, tough challenges, and new friendships. It was great to hear about the many close battles, and even more inspiring to see students enjoying the games, regardless of the outcome.

Oral Health Care for School Students
Dental care, with no out of pocket cost, is offered to all Queensland students from the age of 4 to the completion of Grade 10 through the School Dental Service. Children aged 0 - 4 years and students in Year 11 -12, may be eligible for treatment if they receive Childhood Dental Benefit Scheme or if they have a current concessional health care card. The Dental Team consists of a Dentist, Dental Therapists, Oral Health Therapists and Dental Assistants. You will be advised if your child needs specialist dental treatment.

If you would like your child/children to participate in the free dental care program, please complete each section of the registration form, sign and return it to the School Office by Monday 31st March 2025 Please note that by signing this form, you are only advising our service of your wish to participate in the dental care program and providing personal information to allow us to contact you.
Our process for making your child’s first appointment with us has recently changed. Our first point of contact may be via SMS. If responding via the Call Centre on 1300 082 662, please choose Option 3 to speak with School Dental Service.
Please remember
Students will be seen at the Rangeville Dental Clinic, located on school grounds.
- Parents/Legal Guardians must attend all appointments & must hold a current Medicare Card-please bring this card to the appointment.
- There are limited appointments available before and after school and most appointments will have to be during school time.
- Oral Health does not accept any responsibility for transport of the children to and from their appointments.

Biscuit Fundraiser Update
Hello, wonderful Rangeville families! I would like to take a moment to thank all the families who have chosen to be involved in our biscuit fundraiser. Your support means so much, and I hope you're already enjoying the sweet treats that came with your biscuit box.
A Quick Reminder About Payment:
We want to thank you for your support in this fundraiser. To make the payment process as easy as possible, we’re kindly asking all families to make their payments via bank transfer. This helps us keep things organized. Please make sure to deposit the money for your biscuit box at your earliest convenience using the details below:
BSB: 084-004
a/c: 83369-4350
Reference: Project ID 179034
Need More Boxes?
If your student would like to sell more boxes, we’ve got you covered. Extra boxes will be available for pickup on Wednesdays and Thursdays during school hours. Simply give us a call and we will organise to get the boxes to you.
Spreading Kindness 💛
While we’re on the topic of sweet things, let’s talk about something that makes our school community even better: Kindness! I believe that kindness is just like a good biscuit – it’s something we can all share, and it always makes things better.
I would love to encourage all of our students to show kindness in big and small ways every day. Whether it’s a smile to a friend, helping someone with their homework, or simply saying “hello” to someone who may need a friend, every act of kindness counts. It’s not just about being nice – it’s about creating a supportive, happy, and welcoming environment for everyone. And when we all pitch in, our school truly becomes a place where kindness is baked right into everything we do.
Thank you for your continued support in making our school a more welcoming place for everyone.

The Opti-MINDS Challenge

This year Rangeville is going to participate in the Opti-MINDS Challenge. Miss Olsen will be facilitating the challenge this year, so please let her know if this sparks your interest. Keep an eye out in the newsletter in the next few months for more information regarding expressions of interest and commitment.
In a world where the ‘facts’ change daily – we need to change our thinking! Opti-MINDS IS the PROCESS of CHANGE…The opportunity to Opti-MISE your thinking for Opti-MUM performance!
Opti-MINDS is a process of PREVENTION – rather than a damage control; it instils a proactive mindset of:
- Capability – “Can Do!”
- Responsibility – “If not me – then who?”
- Creativity & Innovation; &
- Unashamed EXCELLENCE, within participants; encouraging them to REALISE their own capacity and responsibility to ‘MAKE the DIFFERENCE’ for themselves – & to come from an “IF NOT, WHY NOT?” stance.

Book Club
WELCOME BACK TO BOOK CLUB!
Book Club catalogues have been distributed, and they are kicking things off with LOTS of value for families, such as their FREE BOOKS offer + $5 PROMO CODES.
All ordering occurs through the LOOP app. No cash payments are taken at school. You will need to update your child's class for the new school year and should then be ready to go.
Orders are delivered to school two to three weeks after orders close and are then distributed to students.
Ordering from book club generates credits for the school that are used for library and classroom resources. Thank you to the many families that order each term.

QParents

QParents is a secure, online portal that has been created by the Department of Education to provide parents of Queensland state school students with 24-hour access to their child's information. The portal allows you to securely access information about your child and communicate directly with your child's school.
QParents provides secure, online access to student information such as:
- attendance details
- consent forms
- payment of invoices
- payment history
- behaviour
- report cards and assessment dates
- upcoming events
- timetables
- student photo
In addition to the information provided, it's important to note that the QParents portal only sends invoices to the parent/carer who is responsible for 100% of the student's school fees. This means that if there are multiple parents or carers who share responsibility for fees, only one of them will receive the invoice through the portal. It's important for parents and carers to communicate and coordinate payment arrangements if they are sharing the responsibility for fees.
We encourage you to register for QParents. To do this, simply express your interest by emailing mllew16@eq.edu.au or by phoning 4617 733 and Mrs Llewellyn will email you an invitation to register (which includes your log-in code) and your childs unique EQID. Your child's EQID can also be found on your child's Semester Report Card.

Rangeville Outside School Hours Care Services
Rangeville Outside Hours School Care services are available for families if you need before school care, after school care or vacation care. If you want to know more about what is available, please contact the staff located in the Big Hall (W Block). There is also information on the P&C website www.rsspandc.com.au or email at roshc@rangevilless.eq.edu.au
Reminder to Parents
For the safety of your children and the others using the service, we need to contact parents or emergency contacts, resulting in a time lapse where we cannot find a child. This is a safety risk due to not having the staff ratios while we search for the children absent.
There are multiple ways to notify the service if your child is not attending a session:
- Record an absence via the Xplor App - go to attendance mark as absent (this is the preferred method)
- Call the service - 46177388 and leave a message
- Text through to the mobile - 0421 647 404 (leave a detailed text, Child's full name, date not attending)
- Email the service at roshc@rangevilless.eq.edu.au
If your child is absent from School, you still need to notify the service as we are independent to the school and due to Confidentiality, they are not authorised to notify us of your child's absence.
If we cannot reach the primary contact, emergency contacts are called and if these contacts cannot be reached, THE POLICE WILL BE CALLED.
If you are returning a call, please press EXT 4 to connect directly to the service. If not answered, please leave a message or text the mobile immediately.
If you do not notify us, you will incur a $5 penalty fee, as we are spending considerable time trying to find these absent children in the school grounds.
If this occurs more than 3 times, we may consider reviewing your enrolment.

Nature Play and Celebrations
The children have had so much fun over the last couple of weeks exploring our natural world and engaging in a range of experiences. We have enjoyed using sticks, twigs and rocks to play naughts and crosses, and sticks for painting rather than paintbrushes. We have also explored the concept of re using materials and resources for a range of purposes and having discussions about ways we can do this at our homes. The children have enjoyed recycling boxes to be creative and explore their imaginations. We have also recently celebrated and learnt about Holi – The Hindu Festival of Colours and the children have gained so much knowledge about what this festival is through activities.
Upcoming Toowoomba Show Holiday
We would like to advise to roshc families that we will be closed on Friday 28th March for the Toowoomba Show holiday.
