Principal's Celebration

Welcome!
It is my absolute pleasure to welcome you to the 2025 school year at Rangeville State School. We are particularly excited to congratulate our 2025 Prep students on a positive start to their first year of school.
On behalf of the staff, we look forward to a wonderful year learning, achieving and growing together!
Students are welcome onto the school grounds from 8:20am. At this time, Prep students are invited to play on the Prep play equipment. Years 1-6 students are able to wait in the eating shed or join in with the walking club on the oval. These are the only areas under supervision before school.
Special thanks to the parents who have been assisting on the South Street crossing in the absence of one of our Crossing Supervisors. We are working closely with the Department of Transport and Main Roads to have this resolved as quickly as possible.
Thank you for your patience during our covered walkway works outside the administration building. Works are scheduled to be finished in the next few weeks. We are very fortunate to be supported by our Regional Infrastructure team with updates to our school facilities.

Every Queensland state school participates in a review at least once every 4 years. Reviews are conducted by the Department of Education's School and Region Reviews team.
Reviews are an important part in how the department supports school improvement to lift educational achievement, enhance student wellbeing and engagement, and strengthen culture and inclusion. It provides schools with independent feedback, tailored to their context and needs.
Rangeville State School has a School Review scheduled for Wednesday 19, Thursday 20 and Friday 21 of February 2025.
The Reviewers are always keen to talk with members of our school community. If you would like to receive a phone call from a reviewer, please contact me via email (admin@rangevilless.eq.edu.au).

News from Mrs Griffiths
A STRONG START!
We are thrilled to congratulate our Prep students on a wonderful beginning to their first year of school! The enthusiasm, dedication and hard work of students and staff has set a positive tone for the months ahead. A special thank you to our families for helping to make this transition so smooth. We look forward to learning and working together throughout the year.
WORKING TOGETHER
A positive relationship between home and school is key to student success. When families and educators work together, students feel more supported, engaged, and confident in their learning.
Here are a few ways to strengthen this partnership:
- Stay Connected – Regular communication with teachers helps keep everyone on the same page.
- Be Involved – Attend school events, volunteer, or simply ask your child about their day.
- Encourage Learning at Home – Support homework routines, and celebrate achievements, big or small.
Together, we can create a supportive and enriching environment for every student.
GETTING THE CONVERSATION STARTED
“How was school today?” often gets a one-word answer. To spark more meaningful conversations, try asking open-ended questions that encourage your child to share details about their day.
Here are a few ideas:
- “What was the best part of your day?”
- “Tell me something new you learned today?”
- “Who did you sit with at lunch?”
- “Did anything make you laugh today?”
By asking specific and engaging questions, you help your child reflect on their experiences and strengthen your connection with them. Give it a try and enjoy the conversations!
NEURODIVERSITY
Neurodiversity – the natural variation in how people think, learn and experience the world – reminds us that differences are strengths. By fostering understanding and respect, we create an environment where all students feel included and supported. Simple actions, like practising patience, using kind language, and celebrating different ways of thinking, help build a positive school culture.
News from Mrs Hagley
Positive Education at Rangeville State School
At Rangeville SS we focus on the whole child by teaching the skills of both wellbeing and achievement. Through our Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) and Berry Street Education Model (BSEM) programs we strive to teach our young people the skills they need to increase resilience, release stress, anxiety and regulate emotions to assist them to make a good behaviour choices and focus on their learning.

Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL)
PBL is our whole-school framework for behaviour support that has been enacted at Rangeville for the last six years. PBL promotes positive behaviour and helps us to develop a safe and supportive learning environment.
- PBL helps us to be consistent in the way we support and respond to behaviour.
- PBL enables us to develop our clear expectation of Being Safe, Respectful Learners and ensure that behaviour support is differentiated according to need.
Please ask your children about our ‘Roar Paw’ rewards and ask them if they or a friend have received a stamp/token over the last two weeks, and can they tell you what they did to receive this acknowledgement.

Berry Street Educational Model (BSEM)
BSEM is an approach to support our school with practical, classroom-based strategies to increase the engagement of all of our students, including those with complex and unmet learning needs. You might like to view this short YouTube clip to see what it is all about https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0bTobn62-c
The BSEM provides techniques and approaches to support students’ self-regulation, relationships and wellbeing to increase student engagement and significantly improve academic achievement.
During the Student Free Days, our whole staff completed the third day of training in the implementation of this program aimed at increasing engagement and achievement. Please ask your children about the ‘Welcome Circle’ process for their class.
Student Medication

If your child requires medication whilst at school, please ensure prescribed medications, asthma puffers, Epipens and current Action Plans are brought to the school administration building as soon as possible. You will be asked to complete a new Consent to Administer Medication Form when you handover medications. You are welcome to fill in the form at the office or find it below.
Please note that students attending Primary School are not permitted to self-administer asthma puffers according to the Department of Education policy.

Sports News
Swimming Lessons
Swimming lessons play a vital role in developing both physical and life skills for children. Not only do they teach water safety and the ability to swim, but they also promote physical fitness, strength, and coordination. Learning to swim helps children build confidence in and out of the water, providing them with a skill they can enjoy and utilize throughout their lives. Furthermore, swimming lessons encourage discipline, focus, and perseverance as children progress through different levels of skill. Above all, ensuring your child is safe around water is invaluable, and early swimming lessons help reduce the risk of water-related accidents. Investing in these lessons is an essential step in fostering a child's growth and wellbeing.

QParents

QParents is a secure, online portal that has been created by the Department of Education to provide parents of Queensland state school students with 24-hour access to their child's information. The portal allows you to securely access information about your child and communicate directly with your child's school.
QParents provides secure, online access to student information such as:
- attendance details
- consent forms
- payment of invoices
- payment history
- behaviour
- report cards and assessment dates
- upcoming events
- timetables
- student photo
In addition to the information provided, it's important to note that the QParents portal only sends invoices to the parent/carer who is responsible for 100% of the student's school fees. This means that if there are multiple parents or carers who share responsibility for fees, only one of them will receive the invoice through the portal. It's important for parents and carers to communicate and coordinate payment arrangements if they are sharing the responsibility for fees.
We encourage you to register for QParents. To do this, simply express your interest by emailing mllew16@eq.edu.au or by phoning 4617 733 and Mrs Llewellyn will email you an invitation to register (which includes your log-in code) and your childs unique EQID. Your child's EQID can also be found on your child's Semester Report Card.
