Principal's Celebration
Term Four Swimming Lessons have finished today. Thank you to Mr Morris, Mrs Langton, Mrs Newton, Mrs Murphy, Mrs Fraser, Mrs Griffiths and Mr Howman for supporting students in the pool each week.
At the end of Term Three, we replaced the pool heater and the water has been a very consistent and balmy 30 degrees this season. We have also enjoyed great weather for the weekly lessons.
We look forward to seeing you at the Swimming Carnivals. Don't forget to check out the information included below for specific information and timings for each carnival.
School Upgrades
Our Department of Education Infrastructure Services is constantly working with us to update and upgrade our school facilities. This week, both sets of external stairs on D Block (Year 5) were replaced! It is lovely to have another refreshed space!
Drop off & Pick Up Times
Students are welcome onto our school grounds from 8:15am each day. At this time, staff are rostered to duty to supervise students.
Prep students are invited into the Prep Playground from 8:15am.
We provide supervision in two areas before school for our Year 1 - 6 students from 8:15am:
1. Year 2/3 Eating Shed - Students are invited to sit quietly in the shed on arrival to school.
2. Oval - Students are invited to engage in before school walking club around the oval.
This term, we have had increasing numbers of students arriving as early as 7:30am. Concerningly, we have had a number of incidents where children have tripped or engaged in unsafe behaviour during this early arrival.
Please ensure your child is not arriving at school prior to 8:15am. If required, Rangeville Outside School Hours Care is open from 6:30am.
P&C Mango Fundraiser
Mango trays are scheduled to be delivered on Tuesday 19 November. These will be ready for collection between 2pm and 4pm on Tuesday 19 November from the temporary Tuckshop location in P Block.
Thank you for supporting our P&C Mango Fundraiser!
Let's Celebrate!
This week, we have had so many opportunities to celebrate the extraordinary efforts of students within our school.
Remembrance Day
On Monday 11 November, we recognised Remembrance Day. Thank you to our Captains and Student Council members for their attitude and efforts in conducting our school service. Thank you to our special guest, Mr Lindsay Shanks and all members of the community who attended. We valued being able to observe this significant day with you present.
2025 Leadership Positions
This term, our Year 5 cohort has had the opportunity to apply for a Student Leadership position in 2025.
We have been so very impressed with the way students have approached this responsibility. On behalf of our entire community, I would like to congratulate and acknowledge the efforts of all students who have indicated their interest in this process.
Shortlisted students presented their speeches this week with confidence and clarity to the upper school staff and students.
Thank you to Mrs Hagley for ensuring this process is fair and transparent.
Instrumental Music Performances
During the past few weeks, we have been delighted with pop up performances by our Instrumental Music students conducted by Miss Johansen.
What a treat!
School Crossing Supervisor - Heidi
It is with regret that I share the news of the recent passing of one of our School Crossing Supervisors, Heidi. Heidi has been a familiar face on the Rangeville State School crossings for the past 8 years.
Tomorrow, Saturday 16 November, there will be a celebration of Heidi's life at Garnett Lehman's Park Link Reserve from 12pm. Heidi's family have requested this information be shared with the Rangeville community.
On behalf of the staff, students and community, we share our deepest condolences to the family for their loss.
Students of the Week
Each week, we celebrate our Students of the Week.
This term, we have trialled sending a text to advise parents when their child will receive a Student of the Week certificate. It has been wonderful to see so many family members joining our weekly assembly to celebrate these achievements. Thanks for coming along!
Congratulations to our Term 4 Week 6 & 7 recipients:

Deputy Principal - SWD Message
TRANSITION – GAINING PARENT INSIGHT
As it starts to get towards the end of 2024, you might already be thinking about how you will ease the transition for your child as they enter a new class or move on to High School.
Transition includes both big and small changes. It can include change in teacher, change in room and change in students in the classroom.
Author Sue Larkey, likens transition for neurodiverse students to moving to a foreign country. “There is a different language (e.g. one teacher says ‘pack away’, new teacher says ‘clean up’.) Teachers and other students have different facial expressions and body language to interpret, new rules, new schedules, new smells, just to name a few”.
It is important that we talk about transition in a positive way. As a parent, you have so many invaluable insights that you can share. Now is the time to think about how you will share the things your child loves, their special interests, strengths, possible triggers, and strategies used at home that work.

Music News
Darling Down State Honours Ensemble Program
Rangeville State School hosted the first Primary Darling Downs SHEP program from the 1 - 3 November. The Honours programs are educational programs for music students that help extend and encourage their pursuit of musical excellence. Primary students from 25 schools across the regional came to together to participate in rehearsals during the weekend for Wind Ensemble, String Ensemble and Choir, culminating in an exceptional concert on the Sunday afternoon. Rangeville was represented strongly in all three ensembles, with each student expanding their musical knowledge. Congratulations to all our talented students for their dedication and participation!
Enrol for Prep 2025
Don't delay, enrol today! Children born between 1 July 2019 and 30 June 2020 are eligible for Prep in 2025.
Please apply for enrolment online as soon as possible at: https://eq.sobs.com.au/en/parent.php?schoolid=70862 or collect an enrolment pack from the school office.
Book Club Update
Book club has not been running smoothly of late. This has been out of the school's control as Scholastic has had issues with the delivery company. They have now switched companies and things should start to run smoother but currently a third of the school have received their catalogues with the others yet to arrive. When they arrive, they will get straight to students.
Issue 7 books that were purchased are in transit and should arrive within the week. They will be unpacked and delivered straight to the excited children who are waiting.
This issue closes on the 25th of November. Thank you for the support of book club. It benefits the school and the credits generated by each purchase go towards purchasing books for the library and classrooms.
QParents
QParents is a secure, online portal that has been created by the Department of Education to provide parents of Queensland state school students with 24-hour access to their child's information. The portal allows you to securely access information about your child and communicate directly with your child's school.
QParents provides secure, online access to student information such as:
- attendance details
- consent forms
- payment of invoices
- payment history
- behaviour
- report cards and assessment dates
- upcoming events
- timetables
- student photo
In addition to the information provided, it's important to note that the QParents portal only sends invoices to the parent/carer who is responsible for 100% of the student's school fees. This means that if there are multiple parents or carers who share responsibility for fees, only one of them will receive the invoice through the portal. It's important for parents and carers to communicate and coordinate payment arrangements if they are sharing the responsibility for fees.
We encourage you to register for QParents. To do this, simply express your interest by emailing mllew16@eq.edu.au or by phoning 4617 733 and Mrs Llewellyn will email you an invitation to register (which includes your log-in code) and your childs unique EQID. Your child's EQID can also be found on your child's Semester Report Card.
