Principal's Celebration
2025 Classes
Preparations for the 2025 year are underway. As our staffing is based on student enrolments, it is critical to know if your family is relocating from Toowoomba or your child is not returning to Rangeville SS in 2025. Please contact the office via email or in person at your earliest convenience.
Swimming Carnivals
In this fortnight's newsletter, we have included an overview of the Carnival Days. Please refer to the section applicable for your child for specific information.
Tuckshop Day
Today, Friday 1 November, we celebrate Tuckshop Day to recognise the hard work and dedication of our tuckshop staff and volunteers. We’re incredibly grateful for the nutritious food they provide, which helps our students focus, learn, and thrive. Tuckshop Day is a special opportunity for us to express our thanks and appreciation for all the behind-the-scenes efforts that keep our tuckshop running smoothly.
We can’t wait to see our wonderful tuckshop convenor Nicky and her team of volunteers in their brand-new tuckshop facilities, with building progressing well!
Thank you, families, for trusting us with your children’s health and nutrition. If you’re interested in joining our amazing team of tuckshop volunteers—even for an hour—we’d love to welcome you! To find out more, please contact Nicky via the Rangeville State School P&C Association Facebook page.
On behalf of our whole school community, we would like to say THANK YOU to the following community members for the important contribution they make to our school.
- Nicky Scott
- Merryl Scott

SHEP is an initiative available to students from schools across Queensland. It provides opportunities for students to work in intensive music based symbiotic relationships, through ensemble performance, with their peers and outstanding local, national and international conductors.
The program consists of:
Friday 1 November 2024: 4pm-7pm
Saturday 2 November 2024: 8am - 4pm
Sunday 3 November 2024: 8am - 12:30pm. Final Concert 11am - 12:30pm
Before School Playground Supervision
We love seeing our Prep students enjoy their playground each morning! Just a friendly reminder that this area is supervised between 8:20am and 8:40am to keep it a safe, happy space for everyone. Outside these times - before and after school - we ask that the playground stay off-limits.
The covered play area is supervised for students from Years 1 - 6 between 8:20am and 8:40am.
Additionally, other playground equipment on campus isn’t supervised before or after school, so we ask that it also remain off-limits.
We understand some parents may like to supervise their younger pre-prep children here, but please remember that their health and safety are the family’s responsibility.
Thank you for helping us keep our prep playground a safe, joyful space for our students to enjoy!
Evacuation & Lock Down Drills
I am pleased to share that our recent lockdown and evacuation drills were completed successfully. These drills are critical in ensuring everyone in our community knows the expectations in the event of an emergency.
Staff and students responded efficiently. This was particularly appreciated on Wednesday during our evacuation drill. We were able to have students outside for a minimal amount of time!

Top Tips to Support Mental Wellbeing
(Excerpts from the Smiling Mind Blog)
Move
Regular movement and exercise are not only beneficial for our physical health but also our mental health. Regular physical activity has been proven to alleviate feelings of depression, anxiety and increase our overall mood.
Sleep
A good night’s sleep plays an important role in our children’s overall wellbeing. Removing devices such as tablets 30 minutes before bed and sticking to a regular bedtime are great ways to set your child up for a good night’s rest.
Eat the Rainbow
Research suggests that eating a healthy and nutritious diet can improve mental health, enhance cognitive skills, like concentration and memory, and improve academic performance. Getting children in the garden planting fruits and vegetables or helping during the process of cooking are potential ways to get them involved and familiar with healthy foods.
Focus on the Good
Our mind is the most powerful tool we have for overcoming challenges. It is important that we take the time to focus on the good. Gratitude is being thankful for the good things in our lives. A simple way to do this is to ask family members to share ‘What went well’ in their day.

Music News
Recently, some of our Year 6 students had the incredible opportunity to participate in a workshop at the Empire Theatre, led by Jonny Ng and other members of the Brisbane Camerata. Throughout the morning, they joined other Year 6 and 7 students from across the Toowoomba in a string ensemble, and honed their skills in small group sectionals. A highlight of the morning was a performance of a Harry Potter classic, which left students and staff alike feeling inspired. It was a memorable experience that our Rangeville students thoroughly enjoyed.
Year 5 Emu Gully Camp
Congratulations to our Year 5 students who had a great time at the annual Emu Gully camp last week. The students had the opportunity to learn to think outside the square, listen to each other and identify strengths within their team. The students were amazing and the adults who accompanied them thoroughly enjoyed watching them overcome their fears, support each other and achieve some wonderful things that they can come back and apply at school. Well done Year 5!
QParents
QParents is a secure, online portal that has been created by the Department of Education to provide parents of Queensland state school students with 24-hour access to their child's information. The portal allows you to securely access information about your child and communicate directly with your child's school.
QParents provides secure, online access to student information such as:
- attendance details
- consent forms
- payment of invoices
- payment history
- behaviour
- report cards and assessment dates
- upcoming events
- timetables
- student photo
In addition to the information provided, it's important to note that the QParents portal only sends invoices to the parent/carer who is responsible for 100% of the student's school fees. This means that if there are multiple parents or carers who share responsibility for fees, only one of them will receive the invoice through the portal. It's important for parents and carers to communicate and coordinate payment arrangements if they are sharing the responsibility for fees.
We encourage you to register for QParents. To do this, simply express your interest by emailing mllew16@eq.edu.au or by phoning 4617 733 and Mrs Llewellyn will email you an invitation to register (which includes your log-in code) and your childs unique EQID. Your child's EQID can also be found on your child's Semester Report Card.

Rangeville State School P&C Association Outside School Hours Care (ROSHC)
Programming at ROSHC: Our program focus runs each week on practices, principals and 5 key learning outcomes from My Time, Our Place. An area that we notice children really enjoy is from Outcome 4: Children and young people are confident and involved learners.
Children and young people engage when they are motivated and can participate in purposeful activities. Further, they are more likely to be confident and involved when their family, community experiences and understandings are recognised and included in the school age care setting. Children and young people are more engaged and interested when they are challenged and can demonstrate their capabilities. The educators’ knowledge of individual children is crucial to providing an inclusive environment, and experiences that will optimise learning and thinking. We believe that active involvement in play and leisure activities builds children’s understandings of concepts and the creative thinking and inquiry processes that are necessary for lifelong learning.
Vacation Care Bookings: Due to this term having 11 weeks the vacation care program will be emailed out to families at the end of week 9, the 29th November. Please check your junk mail if you don’t receive it by 6pm Friday. The program will have important information for each day so please take care to read through the all days that you’re planning to book your child/ren in for.
Bookings: Before and After School Care booking session can be made by the account holders or an authorised nominee. This can be done via email roshc@rangevilless.eq.edu.au or via the Xplor App.
Casual bookings will only be available where the service has approved places available.
Permanent bookings will take a priority over casual vacancies.
Casual booking requests must be made via Xplor. If placement is not available at the time the request is made, the request will be placed on a waiting list.
Cancellations: Parents/guardians must notify the service of cancellations to a session booking via the Xplor Home app or if having difficulties with the app please email: roshc@rangevilless.eq.edu.au.
After the 3rd incident of not reporting a cancellation or absence a $5 fee will be applied to the account. Children are not to ring or email to cancel or make a booking.
If a cancellation is made less than 24hrs prior to the booking, full fee applies. If cancellation is made between 24hrs and 48hrs prior, half-rate fees apply.
Where the notice is less than 30 minutes, parents (or authorised nominees) are required to confirm these changes via phone also.
