Principal's Celebration
Whole School Special Events
In an effort to ensure families have as much notice as possible of upcoming events, this term's newsletter Calendar of Events includes the entire term worth of activities. Thank you for taking time to review the Calendar of Events each fortnight.
Next Friday, 16 August we invite all students to wear Orange as we recognise Bullying! No Way!
We will celebrate Book Week with a theme of "Reading is Magic" with an incursion on Monday 19 August and a Dress Up Day on Friday 23 August. We would love you to join us for our Book Week parade beginning at 9am in the hall.
On Monday 26 August we will have a gold coin donation to wear your pyjamas to school to raise money for the Pyjama Foundation.
We appreciate your effort to support our involvement in these community activities.
Bullying No Way: National week of action
Bullying No Way Week is held from 12 to 16 August and is Australia's key bullying prevention initiative to find workable solutions to prevent bullying.
The theme for 2024 is 'Everyone belongs'.
When we all feel like we belong, bullying struggles to find a place. It's about embracing who we are, respecting everyone's differences and standing up together against unkindness.
Belonging means we all have a role in preventing bullying. We're encouraged to speak up and create a safe place where everyone feels supported and respected, and our voices are heard and valued.
We will be recognising acts of kindness in our school next week!
Book Week - Reading is Magic!
The Children's Book Council of Australia key national event of the year is Children's Book Week. This year, Book Week is celebrated between 17 and 23 August.
We are excited to begin the week with a performance and workshops for Prep - Year 6 students on Monday 19 August. Please ensure consent forms are completed and the $5 payment is made. Students will have opportunity to engage in activities throughout the week. We will finish the week with a dress up day and special Book Week Parade beginning 9am Friday 23 August. All families are welcome to come along to enjoy the fun!
Did you know reading for pleasure is more important for children's cognitive development than their parents' level of education and is a more powerful factor in life achievement than socio-economic background.
Participation in shared reading is linked to enhanced relaxation, calmness, concentration, quality of life, confidence and self-esteem.

2024 Solid Pathways STEM University Experience Day Southern Queensland University Toowoomba Campus
This week the Rangeville Solid Pathways students joined with several other schools, in our region and participated in a fabulous day filled with Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics at the University of Southern Queensland Toowoomba Campus.
We were welcomed by Shannon Bauwens a traditional owner of the land, Professor Linda Deravin the Head of School and Dean of Nursing and Midwifery, and Dr Hind Hegazy the Principal Advisor of the Solid Pathways STEM for Queensland.
Our first session was Paramedicine and was facilitated by Teddy and David. It was an interactive learning experience giving our students hands-on experience of the world of paramedics and emergency medical services. We discovered what paramedics do, the importance of their work and how they help in emergencies and also preventative care for people in the city, rural and remote locations.
Our students worked in teams learning CPR and how to apply a triangular bandage. They were surprised with the effort required to perform CPR for only two minutes and they asked great questions about how to best help people in a range of scenarios.
The second session was illuminating with Paul Carmody who took us on a ‘On Country Walk and Talk’. He shared with the student various ways we can connect with country and how to pay our respect to the land we know as Australia and natural landscapes that hold deep cultural significance. During the walk, students explored the beauty and diversity of the local environment, learning about native plants and ecosystems, gaining insights into cultural heritage and traditions of the custodians of the land.
Our students enthusiastically engaged and were enthralled with the exploration of the minibeasts, edible and medicinal plant life, and material use of the land in a sustainable manner.
Our final session facilitated by Emerson encompassed Earth Properties: fire making, ochre painting and seed grinding. In this hands-on workshop students had the opportunity to connect with culture and appreciate skills and knowledge passed down through generations.
As a particular highlight of the day, our students and attending family members immersed themselves into the activities.
It was a wonderful day filled with connections, new learnings and inspirations for possible futures in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and First Australian studies at the University of Southern Queensland Toowoomba Campus. We are thankful for the opportunity to attend and for all those who made the day possible.

Pyjama Day
Student Council is fundraising for the Pyjama Foundation on Monday 26 August. We are asking all staff and students to wear pyjamas to school and bring a gold coin donation if they are able.
National Pyjama Day is all about wearing your favourite pair of PJ's to help The Pyjama Foundation raise much-needed awareness and funds for children in foster care.
With the money raised from National Pyjama Day, you’ll be helping offer learning skills to more than 1000 children, fund educational resources and help provide stable, positive relationships.
PBL Lesson - Bullying No Way
The National Week of action for “Bullying No Way” is being held in week 6 this term. There will be some lunchtime activities offered to the students.
Teachers will be using our Week 6 and 7 PBL lessons to discuss the topic. A free dress day will be held for all students on Friday 16th August. The colour is orange.
Please note Years 5 and 6 students are invited to wear orange in the morning and change into their sports shirts for their sports activities. More information will be coming home to families soon regarding activities and information.
Prep Vision Screening
Good vision is important for a child’s educational, physical and social development. Vision screening checks for common eye conditions that may impact your child’s ability to see and therefore impact their learning and development.
A Registered Nurse will be visiting the school on 15th, 17th & 18th October 2024 to conduct vision screening for children in their prep year.
If you wish to have your prep child participate in this FREE vision screening program, please complete a consent form, this can be done online until Monday 8th May (Midnight) or paper forms can be handed in up until and including screening day morning.
Participation in this free vision screening program is not compulsory. If you do not wish for your child to participate in screening, please complete the consent form and indicate that you wish to decline screening.
Parents do not need to be present for screening, however if you would like to be, please contact the school to arrange this.
If you have concerns about your child’s eyes at any time, please take your child to see an eye health professional (optometrist/ophthalmologist).
For further information, please scan the below QR code to visit the Program website or contact the Primary School Nurse Health Readiness Program on 1800 687 372.
Online consent forms will available from 5th June or you can find a paper copy in the school office.

If you've recently changed your contact details like email address, mobile number, home address, family circumstances, workplace, or emergency contacts, please reach out to us at admin@rangevilless.eq.edu.au or give us a call at 4617 7333. QParents
QParents is a secure, online portal that has been created by the Department of Education to provide parents of Queensland state school students with 24-hour access to their child's information. The portal allows you to securely access information about your child and communicate directly with your child's school.
QParents provides secure, online access to student information such as:
- attendance details
- consent forms
- payment of invoices
- payment history
- behaviour
- report cards and assessment dates
- upcoming events
- timetables
- student photo
In addition to the information provided, it's important to note that the QParents portal only sends invoices to the parent/carer who is responsible for 100% of the student's school fees. This means that if there are multiple parents or carers who share responsibility for fees, only one of them will receive the invoice through the portal. It's important for parents and carers to communicate and coordinate payment arrangements if they are sharing the responsibility for fees.
We encourage you to register for QParents. To do this, simply express your interest by emailing mllew16@eq.edu.au or by phoning 4617 733 and Mrs Llewellyn will email you an invitation to register (which includes your log-in code) and your childs unique EQID. Your child's EQID can also be found on your child's Semester Report Card.
