What is ICAS?
ICAS is an online academic competition that is designed to assess students’ higher order thinking and problem-solving skills in English, Mathematics, Science, Writing, Spelling Bee and Digital Technologies.
Each assessment celebrates students’ accomplishments by providing opportunities for recognition and development. Every student who participates will receive a printed certificate and an online results report. Top performers will be eligible for medals.
We encourage you to consider entering your child into ICAS this year.
Learn more about ICAS here. (https://www.icasassessments.com/products-icas)

Music News
Music at Rangeville!
The Music Department at Rangeville has been buzzing with excitement with another amazing fortnight of music!
Last Wednesday marked a monumental day as our 5/6 Voices Choir graced the prestigious Empire Theatre for Sing Out. Led by the inspiring guest conductor, Jenny Moon, the choristers delved into workshops, learning new skills before performing "Snow on Snow" in the evening concert. Closing the concert was the harmonious convergence of 500 voices from 12 different schools. The applause was thunderous, echoing the admiration of an audience spellbound by the sight and sound of so many choristers on one stage. To see photos and video of this amazing event go to https://www.thechronicle.com.au/ and search for Sing Out.
But our musical journey didn’t end there! Dr Rachel Howley from the Open Conservatorium, Queensland Conservatorium of Music, Griffith University, came to Rangeville on Monday. She directed workshops with our bands and symphony orchestra and was very impressed by the skills of our young musicians. Rachel will return in Week 1 of Term 3 along with Mark Sullivan and Elizabeth Lawrence to provide two more days of workshops which will culminate in an unforgettable concert!
As if that wasn't enough, the excitement continues with our Junior Strings and Symphony Orchestra gearing up for the DDSW Regional Finals of Fanfare on Friday. Led by the Mrs. Johansen, these ensembles are poised to dazzle, leaving their mark on the rich musical landscape of the Darling Downs with every note they play.
Classroom News
2B - After completing their English unit focussing on the traditional and fractured fairytales of The Gingerbread Man, students planned and created a gingerbread cookie. There were no escapee gingerbread men this time!
Kids In Space
After working very hard to solve a design challenge, thirty students attended the Kids In Space State Showcase day. The three groups presented their designs to a panel of judges and were able to view the work of the other twenty-one Queensland teams involved.
Seeing the students working together to develop and improve ideas was sensational but it was even more fantastic to watch how their 3D design skills improved. All the students involved should be feeling proud of their efforts and the maturity, commitment and growth that they demonstrated.
A special thank you to Mr James Blight, a school community member, for his engineering skills and enthusiasm throughout the project. We have all appreciated your real world knowledge and skill.
Prep Vision Screening
Good vision is important for a child’s educational, physical and social development. Vision screening checks for common eye conditions that may impact your child’s ability to see and therefore impact their learning and development.
A Registered Nurse will be visiting the school on 15th, 17th & 18th October 2024 to conduct vision screening for children in their prep year.
If you wish to have your prep child participate in this FREE vision screening program, please complete a consent form, this can be done online until Monday 8th May (Midnight) or paper forms can be handed in up until and including screening day morning.
Participation in this free vision screening program is not compulsory. If you do not wish for your child to participate in screening, please complete the consent form and indicate that you wish to decline screening.
Parents do not need to be present for screening, however if you would like to be, please contact the school to arrange this.
If you have concerns about your child’s eyes at any time, please take your child to see an eye health professional (optometrist/ophthalmologist).
For further information, please scan the below QR code to visit the Program website or contact the Primary School Nurse Health Readiness Program on 1800 687 372.
Online consent forms will available from 5th June or you can find a paper copy in the school office.
PBL Rewards Day
PBL/Social and Emotional Learning
RSS will be hosting two Parent Information sessions covering information about PBL processes and Social and Emotional Learning. Leoni Ross (Tier 1 PBL Coach) and Catrina Lawrence (School Social Worker) will be facilitating these meetings.
Due to the recent Public Health advice, we have decided to postpone the PBL sessions until Term 3.

If you've recently changed your contact details like email address, mobile number, home address, family circumstances, workplace, or emergency contacts, please reach out to us at admin@rangevilless.eq.edu.au or give us a call at 4617 7333. This way, we can ensure your information is current and keep you in the loop. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated!
QParents
QParents is a secure, online portal that has been created by the Department of Education to provide parents of Queensland state school students with 24-hour access to their child's information. The portal allows you to securely access information about your child and communicate directly with your child's school.
QParents provides secure, online access to student information such as:
- attendance details
- consent forms
- payment of invoices
- payment history
- behaviour
- report cards and assessment dates
- upcoming events
- timetables
- student photo
In addition to the information provided, it's important to note that the QParents portal only sends invoices to the parent/carer who is responsible for 100% of the student's school fees. This means that if there are multiple parents or carers who share responsibility for fees, only one of them will receive the invoice through the portal. It's important for parents and carers to communicate and coordinate payment arrangements if they are sharing the responsibility for fees.
We encourage you to register for QParents. To do this, simply express your interest by emailing mllew16@eq.edu.au or by phoning 4617 733 and Mrs Llewellyn will email you an invitation to register (which includes your log-in code) and your childs unique EQID. Your child's EQID can also be found on your child's Semester Report Card.

Rangeville State School P&C Association Outside School Hours Care (ROSHC)
Rangeville OSHC is committed to delivering an efficient and effective service for children and families. Management of bookings and cancellation is critical in providing a quality and efficient service for the community.
Parents and families have a role in communicating bookings and cancellations with Rangeville OSHC to ensure effective business practices are supported. This will ensure the booking administration meets the needs of families through communication of expectations.
Bookings for Before and After School Care session can be made by the account holders or an authorised nominee. This can be done via email roshc@rangevilless.eq.edu.au or via the Xplor App.
Where Rangeville OSHC has reached or exceeded requests for bookings beyond the maximum number of children stipulated in the service approval, a priority of access procedure will be implemented. This is stated below.
Care needs for parents/caregivers that work a rotating roster or shift-work employment can have their needs addressed on a case-by-case basis. Parents with these circumstances will need to liaise with the Nominated Supervisor (or relevant delegate) to negotiate this arrangement. Evidence (e.g. a copy of working roster) may be required when requested by the service. Bookings of this nature are considered a permanent booking. Therefore, these arrangements have the same conditions as permanent bookings and are to be made by emailing roshc@rangevilless.eq.edu.au.
Casual bookings will only be available where the service has approved places available.
Permanent bookings will take a priority over casual vacancies.
Casual booking requests must be made via Xplor. If placement is not available at the time the request is made, the request will be placed on a waiting list.
Cancellations: Parents/guardians must notify the service of cancellations to a session booking via the Xplor Home app or if having difficulties with the app please email: roshc@rangevilless.eq.edu.au.
After the 3rd incident of not reporting a cancellation or absence a $5 fee will be applied to the account. Children are not to ring or email to cancel or make a booking.
If a cancellation is made less than 24hrs prior to the booking, full fee applies. If cancellation is made between 24hrs and 48hrs prior, half-rate fees apply.
Where the notice is less than 30 minutes, parents (or authorised nominees) are required to confirm these changes via phone also.
Vacation Care Bookings Now Open
Our vacation care bookings are now open for Monday 24th June to Friday 5th July. We are booking up fast so please send your requests through the xplor app to book a spot for your child/ren. Please be sure to read the program (see below) as there are a range of events happening throughout the holidays that may require special dress or items to be brought from home for the activities held that day. All families have been sent the permission forms and can also be found at our sign-in desk. We ask that these be signed and dropped back to our office or emailed back before the day’s activity.
The following items are required daily for children attending Vacation Care - broad brim hat, closed in shoes, water bottle, spare clothes and a bag for all their belongings and any crafts to take home. Breakfast, morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea will be supplied. The menus have been sent out to all families and will be on display in the foyer. However, if your child would prefer their own lunch box of food, please be NUT AWARE when packing items.
Please be advised that cancelations must be received 7 days prior to avoid charges. If you require any further information on this please email roshc@rangevilless.eq.edu.au
Absentees: If you have a booking at the service and your child goes home early from school, is absent or not coming for either BSC or ASC please let us know via your Xplor app (preferred option) or email roshc@rangevilless.eq.edu.au as soon as possible.
Lost Property
Please remember, if your child has misplaced any items such as jumpers, hats, lunchboxes, or water bottles, they may be found near the Uniform Shop on the verandah.
We kindly ask you to clearly label these items, as our volunteers assist in sorting and returning them to their respective classes.
Any valuable items, such as glasses or watches, will be securely stored in the office for collection.
