Music News
Exciting Music Update from Rangeville!
What a few weeks it's been for our young musicians at Rangeville! We're bursting with pride for our talented ensembles after their outstanding performances at the recent Fanfare Regional Heats. Out of the vibrant musical landscape of the Darling Downs South West Region, five Primary ensembles were selected to participate in the Regional Finals.
We're thrilled to announce that not one, but two Rangeville ensembles have clinched their places in the final: the Junior Strings and the Symphony Orchestra.
As the countdown to the Regional Final intensifies, our best wishes and support go out to both ensembles. They will be performing at Centenary Heights State High School on Friday, June 14th.
The following upcoming performance for the music department is detailed in the table below. More information with finer details will be emailed home to parents.
Date | Ensemble | Event | Location | Dress Code |
Wednesday 5 June | 5/6 Voices Choir | Sing Out | Empire | Sports uniform day, Music uniform night |
Friday 14 June | Junior Strings, Symphony Orchestra | Fanfare Regional Final | Cententary Heights State High School | Music uniform |
Toowoomba Eisteddfod
Rosie had a lovely time at the Toowoomba Eisteddfod on the weekend, and got to perform on the big stage in the Empire auditorium! Before she went on stage I asked her how she was feeling and she responded “I’m pumped!”. She performed so well, and scored first place in the Year 3 and under vocal solo section!
Thanks for letting her practice in class, Miss Olsen!

PREPS
Foodie Fridays are the BEST in Prep! Last week we read the story The Gingerbread Man, and then on Friday we followed a recipe to make gingerbread people. There were LOTS of steps involved - measuring, sifting, stirring, pouring, combining, rolling, baking. The best parts, of course, were decorating them after they had cooled down...and then EATING them! We ate their legs first so they couldn't run away!!
Book Fair Success
Thank you to all the families who attended our 2024 Book Fair! It was a HUGE success!
We made just over $5000 in book sales, which equals an amazing $1500 in Scholastic Rewards for Rangeville to be able to purchase more books and resources for our classrooms.
A big thank you to Donna Sense for organising the Book Fair to come to our school this year, to Sarah Olsen for running the event, to the parents who offered assistance and to all the teachers that volunteered their time before or after school and during lunch breaks - your help made the Book Fair the great success it was!
Congratulations to our winners and runner ups of the Book Fair Colouring-in competition! There was so many great colourings that made the choice very dificult. The winners artworks are displayed in the office.
Prep Vision Screening
Good vision is important for a child’s educational, physical and social development. Vision screening checks for common eye conditions that may impact your child’s ability to see and therefore impact their learning and development.
A Registered Nurse will be visiting the school on 15th, 17th & 18th October 2024 to conduct vision screening for children in their prep year.
If you wish to have your prep child participate in this FREE vision screening program, please complete a consent form, this can be done online until Monday 8th May (Midnight) or paper forms can be handed in up until and including screening day morning.
Participation in this free vision screening program is not compulsory. If you do not wish for your child to participate in screening, please complete the consent form and indicate that you wish to decline screening.
Parents do not need to be present for screening, however if you would like to be, please contact the school to arrange this.
If you have concerns about your child’s eyes at any time, please take your child to see an eye health professional (optometrist/ophthalmologist).
For further information, please scan the below QR code to visit the Program website or contact the Primary School Nurse Health Readiness Program on 1800 687 372.
Online consent forms will available from 5th June or you can find a paper copy in the school office.
PBL Rewards Day
Unfortunately, we are unable to hold our student PBL Rewards Day at the end of this term. It has been rescheduled for Term 3. We will provide the dates and times in the near future.
PBL/Social and Emotional Learning
RSS will be hosting two Parent Information sessions covering information about PBL processes and Social and Emotional Learning. Leoni Ross (Tier 1 PBL Coach) and Catrina Lawrence (School Social Worker) will be facilitating these meetings.
Due to the recent Public Health advice, we have decided to postpone the PBL sessions until Term 3.

QParents
QParents is a secure, online portal that has been created by the Department of Education to provide parents of Queensland state school students with 24-hour access to their child's information. The portal allows you to securely access information about your child and communicate directly with your child's school.
QParents provides secure, online access to student information such as:
- attendance details
- consent forms
- payment of invoices
- payment history
- behaviour
- report cards and assessment dates
- upcoming events
- timetables
- student photo
In addition to the information provided, it's important to note that the QParents portal only sends invoices to the parent/carer who is responsible for 100% of the student's school fees. This means that if there are multiple parents or carers who share responsibility for fees, only one of them will receive the invoice through the portal. It's important for parents and carers to communicate and coordinate payment arrangements if they are sharing the responsibility for fees.
We encourage you to register for QParents. To do this, simply express your interest by emailing mllew16@eq.edu.au or by phoning 4617 733 and Mrs Llewellyn will email you an invitation to register (which includes your log-in code) and your childs unique EQID. Your child's EQID can also be found on your child's Semester Report Card.

Reconciliation Week
This week children have been taking part in activities to help understand Reconciliation Week. The National Reconciliation Week theme for 2024, Now More Than Ever, is a reminder to all of us that no matter what, the fight for justice and the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people will continue. The dates for National Reconciliation Week remain the same each year; 27 May to 3 June. These dates commemorate two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey— the successful 1967 referendum, and the High Court Mabo decision respectively.
This week has seen activities to also help our service’s Reconciliation Action Plan. Each service has a RAP (Reconciliation Action Plan), since 2006 Reconciliation Action Plans have enabled organisations to sustainably and strategically take meaningful action to advance reconciliation. Based around the core pillars of relationships, respect and opportunities, RAPs provide tangible and substantive benefits for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, increasing economic equity and supporting First Nations self-determination. At ROSHC we use the Narragunnawali platform to register and extend on existing initiatives, it is a great platform for schools and Early learning services to create their RAP.
New enrolments
If you would like to enroll your children in ROSHC, please email our office at roshc@rangevilless.eq.edu.au. We will send you our enrollment forms, fee structure, parent handbook, children’s handbook, and information about the Xplor booking app. If any of your personal information has changed, or you wish to change permanent bookings, please email the updates, and we will update our system.
Absentees
If you have a booking at the service and your child goes home early from school, is absent or not coming for either BSC or ASC please let us know via your Xplor app (preferred option) or email roshc@rangevilless.eq.edu.au as soon as possible.
Lost Property
Please remember, if your child has misplaced any items such as jumpers, hats, lunchboxes, or water bottles, they may be found near the Uniform Shop on the verandah.
We kindly ask you to clearly label these items, as our volunteers assist in sorting and returning them to their respective classes.
Any valuable items, such as glasses or watches, will be securely stored in the office for collection.
