Principal's Celebration
Today marks the end of Week 5, Term 1. How quickly the weeks are flying by!
During the last fortnight, our students have been busy with their Term 1 learning as well as:
Zone Swimming Trials
Congratulations to the 36 students who represented our school at the Zone Swimming Trials. I certainly don't think I am biased when I say, our team were the BEST supporters of one another and kept our area clean and tidy! Well done!
Congratulations to the 9 students representing our school and Zone at the Regional Swimming Carnival:
* Ayrton * Bonnie
* Hugo * Hudson
* Munro * Georgia
* Charley * Archer
* Liam
Swimming Carnivals – Junior and Senior
Special thanks to Mr Morris, staff and parent helpers for ensuring our Carnivals were such a success.
Our Student Council approached the Rangeville SS P&C Association last week and requested support to celebrate Best Dressed and Team Spirit in each sports house at each sporting event this year. Thank you to our P&C for donating tuckshop vouchers and congratulations to our Swimming Carnival recipients:
GRIP Leadership
In their dedicated pursuit of honing leadership skills, our student representatives attended the GRIP Leadership conference yesterday. Aptly named for its focus on Growth, Resilience, Integrity, and Purpose, the conference offered a truly enriching experience for our school leaders. Through thoughtful sessions and meaningful discussions, the GRIP Leadership conference has nurtured their confidence to lead with a blend of resilience, integrity, and a growth mindset.
Student Leader Badge Presentation
Today we recognised and acknowledged our 2024 Student Leaders. We were joined by special guests Mr David Janetski, Member for Toowoomba South; Mr Geoff MacDonald, Mayor of Toowoomba Regional Council; and Ann Maree Hagan, RSS P&C President. I have been impressed with the actions of our Year 6 cohort as leaders of our school and know that their choices and behaviour will continue to inspire, guide and contribute positively to our school community.
PBL Focus Week 6:
I have observed more instances than I can count of kindness, beautiful manners, generosity and joy. The commitment of our staff and students on embracing new challenges is evidenced every day.
Next week, all classes will focus on Being Respectful - allowing others to learn.
This looks like:
* Whole body listening
* Focus on instructions to complete the task at hand
* Ignore off-task behaviour

Invitation to Prep Open and Under 8s Morning for Prep 2025 Families
We would like to invite you and your Prep 2025 child to our upcoming Prep Open and Under 8s morning on Friday, 8th March from 9:15am - 10:30am. This event is an excellent opportunity to meet our teachers, see our facilities and find out more about our school.
The current Prep and Year One students will also be in attendance, taking part in a range of fun and exciting activities around the school. This presents a fantastic opportunity for your child to not only mingle with our friendly teachers and explore our Prep classrooms, but also to join in all the activities alongside their peers.
Our Principal, Deputy Principal and staff will be available to answer any questions regarding our school and enrolment processes during the event.
Please RSVP here https://forms.office.com/r/bWRBkNKpsE On the day, you are welcome to sign in at the Prep area or come to the administration office temporarily located in P Block (next to the swimming pool), and our student leaders will walk you down to the event to sign in.
Thank you for your interest in our school. We look forward to welcoming you on Friday, 8th March.
Prep 2025 Enrolments
If you have a Prep aged child to enrol in 2025 but have not yet done so, please apply online as soon as possible here https://eq.sobs.com.au/en/parent.php?schoolid=70862 or feel free to collect an enrolment pack from the school office.
Kids in Space
Exciting news for Rangeville State School! This year, we will be using Makers Empire in our school to participate in the ‘Kids In Space’ program. We are one of one hundred schools nationwide to be selected in the program which encourages students to engage with the nation’s growing space ecosystem, introduce them to space technology and jobs within the space industry and spark their interest in a space career.
We have invited all students in grades four, five and six to participate. It will involve in-school time on a Wednesday, some self-selected time at home and may require out-of-school time as the project nears completion in May. The completed project is presented at a State Showcase Day and winners from this day will be invited to the National Showcase in Adelaide.
If your child is interested in learning more about the project, please email their name and class to dmull1@eq.edu.au by Monday 26th February so that they can be added to the ‘Kids In Space’ challenge course. This will be introduced to them on Wednesday 28th February during school and further log on details will be sent home.
Makers Empire is an award-winning, curriculum-aligned 3D design app and program that our students will use to create anything they can imagine and to design 3D solutions to real-world problems. As part of the program the school has received a 3D printer which we are excited to get students using. All students will have the opportunity to work with the software throughout the year in curriculum aligned projects.
P&C Grants
A friendly reminder of the invaluable support provided by our wonderful P&C to families of RSS students representing Darling Downs, Queensland, and Australia. Application forms for support can be obtained from the school office or by requesting them via email at rssparentlink@gmail.com
Harmony Day Celebrations 2024
On Friday 15 March 2024, we will be celebrating Harmony Day at Rangeville State School. As orange is the colour to represent Harmony Day, students are encouraged to wear something orange to school that day. Students can also choose to wear traditional/cultural costumes to school if they have one. As per tradition, there will be a special parade in the morning.
For Grades 3 – 6 students, the school has made arrangements with professional cultural performers to present various cultural activities including traditional dances and musical performances. This is an excellent opportunity for your child to engage in and be part of this vibrant and colourful celebration.
Cost per student : $8.50
All payments for Harmony Day are to be paid by Friday 8 March 2024. Payment can be made by QParents, BPoint or alternatively EFTPOS at the school office. Please note that the school no longer accepts cash payments.
Prime Energy Drinks
As always, the well-being of our students is top priority, and today we want to gently address a matter related to their health and safety – the presence of energy drinks on school grounds.
Recently, we've noticed an increase in students bringing Prime Energy Drinks to school. While we understand the allure of these beverages, we kindly ask for your support in encouraging alternative choices.
Instead of energy drinks, we invite parents to consider providing their children with alternatives like water or natural fruit juices. These options contribute to hydration and sustained energy levels without the potential concerns associated with energy drinks.
Thank you to our parents and caregivers for fostering a healthy learning environment. Your support in guiding students toward mindful beverage choices plays a vital role in promoting their well-being.
Swimming Carnival Success
It was a fantastic 2 days of competition, participation and house spirit on show at the Junior and Senior Swimming Carnivals last week. A big shout out to all our wonderful parents for your assistance setting-up, packing-up and helping keep times.

QParents
QParents is a secure, online portal that has been created by the Department of Education to provide parents of Queensland state school students with 24-hour access to their child's information. The portal allows you to securely access information about your child and communicate directly with your child's school.
QParents provides secure, online access to student information such as:
- attendance details
- consent forms
- payment of invoices
- payment history
- behaviour
- report cards and assessment dates
- upcoming events
- timetables
- student photo
In addition to the information provided, it's important to note that the QParents portal only sends invoices to the parent/carer who is responsible for 100% of the student's school fees. This means that if there are multiple parents or carers who share responsibility for fees, only one of them will receive the invoice through the portal. It's important for parents and carers to communicate and coordinate payment arrangements if they are sharing the responsibility for fees.
We encourage you to register for QParents. To do this, simply express your interest by emailing mllew16@eq.edu.au or by phoning 4617 733 and Mrs Llewellyn will email you an invitation to register (which includes your log-in code) and your childs unique EQID. Your child's EQID can also be found on your child's Semester Report Card.

Rangeville State School P&C Association Outside School Hours Care (ROSHC)
Farewell to an amazing educator
Children and educators gave a big emotional farewell to Felicity on Wednesday afternoon at after school care. Children had been working on a beautiful card over the past few days with all their well wishes and fond memories of Felicity and her time at ROSHC over the past 4 years. Many children also created their own personal cards and little gifts that they gave to her as well throughout this week she has made such a positive impact to the service which in turn has had such a positive impact on the lives of the children at ROSHC. We are all so grateful to have been a part of her journey here at ROSHC. Felicity is off to Outback New South Wales and we wish her all the very best on her new and exciting adventure. She will definitely be missed at ROSHC but we look forward to her visits when she comes back to Toowoomba.
New roles
Many of our ROSHC families will have met Amelia an amazing educator that has been with us for a while now and has brought so much knowledge with her and puts it all in to her role and shows so much care to the children. We are excited to announce that Amelia has taken on the role of Nominated Supervisor. She will be supported by Anthony and Emma who are also in this role along with the support of all the educators at ROSHC as well. This role brings with it many responsibilities and you will all see Amelia floating around the service more as she navigates this role. We are looking forward to seeing what ideas may be in store for 2024. Please if you have any concerns or questions come and see us at the ROSHC office in W Block.
New enrolments or updating enrolment
If you are wanting to enrol children for 2024 before care/after care or vacation care please send our office an email at roshc@rangevilless.eq.edu.au and we will send you through our enrolment forms, fees structure, parent handbook, children’s handbook and the booking app xplor information. If any of your personal information has changed, please email all changes through and we will update them in our system.
Bookings
Please be aware you will only be able to make bookings if you have your account all set up with us, so please ensure you have finished the enrolment process first. If you would like permanent bookings, email our office roshc@rangevilless.eq.edu.au and we can arrange those bookings for you in xplor. If you are wanting casual bookings this is done via the xplor app and you will be notified of the outcome via the app and an email or phone call if unable to accept the booking. If you are unsure on how to do casual bookings please come and see the office educators and we can help you, or alternatively all the information on this is in the setup of the xplor app.
Absentees
If you have a booking at the service and your child goes home early from school, is absent or not coming for either BSC or ASC please let us know via your Xplor app (preferred option) or email roshc@rangevilless.eq.edu.au as soon as possible.
Lost Property
If your child has misplaced any personal items, we kindly ask you to check their classrooms or stop by our Lost and Found area, conveniently located on the verandah near the Uniform Shop. This is where we gather and keep items that might have been left behind in classrooms, on the playground, or elsewhere around the school.
For more precious items like glasses and watches, our administration office is the place to go, as we securely store them there. Our administration office is currently located in P Block.
Labeling your child's belongings with their name and class can be a tremendous help in reuniting lost items with their owners. Please keep in mind that any unclaimed items at the end of each term will be collected and removed. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated!
