Principal's Celebration
This time of the year is such an exciting time for schools. This fortnight our students and staff are busy finalising assessments and celebrating their 12 months of academic growth. This week we have celebrated our end of year Instrumental Music Concert with our community and the last two days have been filled with listening to outstanding Year Five students discuss leadership and school improvement as they applied for the School Leaders’ positions for 2024. Congratulations to all students and staff for their collective efforts as we finish strong in 2023!
Remembrance Day 2023
Congratulations to our Year 6 Student Leader and cohort, our wreath layers and entire student body, Mr Smith, Mr Henry and Mrs Hagley for an outstanding Remembrance Day Service last Friday. It was exceptional. The information shared from the students was certainly informative and has received some wonderful feedback from the community and the music was outstanding – it just gets better each year. I think that was the best performed Rouse and Reveille I have witnessed and to have it followed by the concert band and the choir performing a rousing rendition of the National Anthem was exceptional. Thank you to Mrs Hagan, Mr McDonald, Mr Janetzki, Mr Shanks and Mr Madden for their attendance and all of our community who supported this very important service of remembrance. Well done everyone involved.
End of Year Instrumental Music Concert
Thank you to our families for your support of a wonderful celebration of our students’ musical achievements in 2023. As mentioned last night, our students and staff can only succeed with the continued support of our families and our P&C.
Thank you to Mrs Jensen, Mrs Johansen, Mr Smith and Mr Henry for all of their hard work and commitment across the year. To have an additional 700 + minutes of practice provided to our children throughout the week shows everyone’s dedication to this musical excellence program.
As mentioned at the end of the night, Mr Smith will be adventuring in 2024. His talents, amazing engagement and positive relationships and his sense of cool will be sorely missed by all. We thank him for everything that he has achieved in our music excellence program.
Term 4 Attendance Progress
Congratulations and thank you to our students and families for their continued commitment to education this year. The above data snapshot celebrates the significant change in attendance being achieved in Term 4 2023. We have increased our daily attendance from 91% in Term 3 to 93.3% in Term 4 2023 so far! Congratulations to our Year Three Cohort who are leading the way this term for our entire school.
2024 Predicted Staffing and Class Set Up & Transition Information
At this stage of the year, we will be starting the year with 29 classes with the below class structures.
Your child and family will be notified of their class and their teacher on Monday 4 December 2023 with a whole school transition morning planned for Tuesday 5 December 2023.
2024 EALD Staffing: Next year our staffing levels to meet the needs of our students for whom English is an additional language or dialect (EALD) will be increasing to 2 Full Time Teachers. This is a very exciting increase from 0.2 fractional position provided in 2023 and reflects the exciting change to the diversity within our school population.
2024 School Book Drop Off: Book Drop Off will again occur on Friday 19 January from 1:30 – 3pm.
C Block Administration Disruptions
As communicated this week, our Administration Block Renovations are scheduled to take place over the Christmas Period and into Term One 2024.
As a result, our Administration Team will be temporarily relocating to a more accessible space for the last two weeks of Term Four (27 November – 8 December 2023) and throughout Term One 2024. The temporary Administration Building will be situated in P Block, a low-set building located between the Music Block and Swimming Pool.
Key Dates and Changes:
- Relocation Period: Weeks Nine and Ten of Term Four (27 November – 8 December 2023) and Term One 2024.
- Temporary Location: P Block (low-set building between the Music Block and Swimming Pool).
- Services: All student and adult administrative tasks, including late slips, sick bay, and student payments, will be accommodated through P Block during this period. Clear signage will be provided to guide our school community during this relocation.
- Reduced Office Capacity: To facilitate the move, the School Office will operate at a reduced capacity on Thursday and Friday (23 and 24 November 2023).
- Payment Request: We kindly request that all payments for upcoming camps and activities be made exclusively through Q Parents during this period. This will help limit on-campus traffic and support our processes, as EFTPOS payments may be limited due to offline machines.
- Asbestos Removal: From 11 December to 22 December 2023, asbestos removal will take place. Our Rangeville Outside School Hours Care Providers are actively organizing offsite facilities for Vacation Care during this period. Further information will be shared with Rangeville Outside School Hours Care families once confirmed.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this period of transition. These improvements will contribute to a more efficient and modern learning environment for our students and staff.
Thank you for your continued support.
Facility Upgrades
This week our Student Council’s continued fundraising efforts have seen two cold water bubblers and water bottle fillers installed around our school. This was a collective effort of our 2022 and 2023 Student Councils and have been positively received by all.
Today we installed a Share the Dignity Period Product vending machine in our Senior Girls Toilets (Year 3-6). This positive and supportive initiative from the QLD Government and private business will support our young ladies by providing free period products for all.
Parents, could you please have a conversation with your daughters about using this new resource respectfully. We understand that some of our younger students may not realise what these products are intended for and therefore may have questions that can be answered in a conversation at home. We have spoken briefly with the children but respect that families are the first educators in puberty awareness and hygiene management. A more in-depth conversation may be needed at home.
New Facility Additions
Thank you to our wonderful 2023 P&C Executive and Committee
This Tuesday night, we held our final P&C Meeting for the year.
On behalf of our staff and most importantly our students, I’d like to take the opportunity to thank our 2023 P&C, led by our P&C Executive: Anne-Maree– President, Emma and Nadine our Vice Presidents, Ellen Secretary and Tamer our Treasurer and our very active P&C Committee. Thank you for all of the amazing work you have done this year and for your contributions to the learning, achieveing and growing of our students every day.
Thank you also to Nicky our Tuckshop and Uniform Shop Convener, Anthony and Felicity our ROSHC coordinators and staff and to Lorna, our P&C Operation staff member, for your dedication and commitment to our students and our community.

Bus Queensland Information
Upcoming: Information Sessions for Parents – PBL (Behaviour)
We are excited to announce upcoming information sessions on key aspects of PBL (Positive Behaviour for Learning), which is an essential part of our curriculum at Rangeville State School. These free sessions will be held twice a term, on Tuesday afternoons in week 5 and 9, from 2:15-2:45pm (see dates below).
Our focus during these sessions is to share the principles of each topic based on research, show how the school implement these practices, reflect on ways this can be adapted to home, and allow for question-and-answer time.
Please email Nelson McGrath nemcg0@eq.edu.au if you are interested in attending any of the sessions or if you have any further questions.
Date | Term and Week | Topic |
31/10/23 | Term 4, Week 5 | Corrective Strategies |
28/11/23 | Term 4, Week 9 | Bullying |
We look forward to seeing you at these sessions, and thank you for your ongoing support.
QParents
QParents is a secure, online portal that has been created by the Department of Education to provide parents of Queensland state school students with 24-hour access to their child's information. The portal allows you to securely access information about your child and communicate directly with your child's school.
QParents provides secure, online access to student information such as:
- attendance details
- consent forms
- payment of invoices
- payment history
- behaviour
- report cards and assessment dates
- upcoming events
- timetables
- student photo
In addition to the information provided, it's important to note that the QParents portal only sends invoices to the parent/carer who is responsible for 100% of the student's school fees. This means that if there are multiple parents or carers who share responsibility for fees, only one of them will receive the invoice through the portal. It's important for parents and carers to communicate and coordinate payment arrangements if they are sharing the responsibility for fees.
We encourage you to register for QParents. To do this, simply express your interest by emailing mllew16@eq.edu.au or by phoning 4617 733 and Mrs Llewellyn will email you an invitation to register (which includes your log-in code) and your childs unique EQID. Please see the attached factsheet for more information.

Holiday Closure
Please take note that our centre will be closed from 6pm Friday 22 December (end of service) until Monday 8th January 2024. We'll keep you in the loop through emails and notifications sent via the user-friendly Xplor App. For any additional queries or information, feel free to reach out to the ROSHC service via email at ROSHC@rangeville.eq.edu.au or visit our dedicated staff in the W Block Hall.
Summer Vacation Care
Our program will be published to all ROSHC families the afternoon of Friday 24th November so please keep an eye on your emails to ensure you get your bookings in early. We will be doing lots of water play during vacation care so please remember to pack togs (sun safe), spare clothes and a towel every day you are coming along with the usual broad brim hat and water bottle. Our vacation care policy for absent days is different to during the term and does require a 7-day notice of absence. If you have any concerns, please email us at roshc@rangevilless.eq.edu.au.
New Enrolments
Would you like to have your child/ren join us at ROSHC? Please email us at roshc@rangevilless.eq.edu.au and we will send you all the enrolment details and link to Xplor. If you would like to have a visit of our service before enrolling or first attending, please come and see the ROSHC office located in W Block Hall and our Educators will be more than happy to show you around.
Donated Dress Up Fun
We would sincerely like to thank the families that have gifted us with some amazing dress ups this week. The children and Educators have been having a great time dressing up and bringing lots of laughs to those around them.
Absentees
If you have a booking at the service and your child goes home early from school, is absent or not coming for either BSC or ASC please let us know via your Xplor app (preferred option) or email roshc@rangevilless.eq.edu.au as soon as possible.
Lost Property
If your child has misplaced any personal items, we kindly ask you to check their classrooms or stop by our Lost and Found area, conveniently located on the verandah near the Uniform Shop. This is where we gather and keep items that might have been left behind in classrooms, on the playground, or elsewhere around the school.
Right now, our Lost and Found is brimming with lunchboxes and water bottles, so if your child is missing any of these, we encourage you to have a quick look there. For more precious items like glasses and watches, our administration office is the place to go, as we securely store them there.
Labeling your child's belongings with their name and class can be a tremendous help in reuniting lost items with their owners. Please keep in mind that any unclaimed items at the end of each term will be collected and removed. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated!
