Principal's News
It was lovely to greet our families on Wednesday afternoon with samples of potatoes dressed in the P&C Fundraising for Father’s Day - Darling Fresh Smoke Haus Garlic and Pepper seasoning. The joy and delight on the students and adults faces as they savoured these delicious samples indicated that this fundraiser is certainly going to be a tasty winner for all. Don’t forget that the P&C Flexischools ordering will close on Thursday 17 August so that orders can be prepared in time for Father’s Day. Please keep an eye out for more samples of a different delicious flavour next week.
Toowoomba Eisteddfod 2023
The annual Toowoomba Eisteddfod has been completed and our students and staff achieved outstanding results as individuals and collectively. The reflections from multiple sources celebrated our students’ performances, their skills and abilities, however, it was their reflection regarding our student’s obvious love and enjoyment for what they were doing that was most recognisable to all. To see their excitement to be participating and performing with their friends and their personal pride for their performances, their school and themselves was impressive. Thank you to our families for all of the hours of commitment and support that is given at home as well to make our music program so successful. Collectively, we are a GREAT STATE SCHOOL!
2023 Athletics Range Zone Carnival – Congratulations
Thank you and congratulations to all students, staff and community for their efforts and successes with yesterday’s Range Zone Athletics Carnival. 56 students were selected to represent Rangeville. All students who attended did so with fantastic sportsmanship and competed to the best of their abilities.
Congratulations to our 11 students who have been successful in reaching the Darling Downs Trials next Tuesday.
Parent Reading Information Session
Thank you to our 20 parents who were able to attend our first Parent Reading Session delivered by our Literacy Coaches and Head of Department – Curriculum last Wednesday evening. The night was very positive in terms of providing families with some background knowledge regarding changes that have been made with regards to school reading and providing lots of useful tips in supporting families at home. Thank you to Mrs Clowes, Miss Grenning and Miss Becker for their time and passion and we look forward to further wonderful evenings in the future.
School Opinion Survey
The annual suite of School Opinion Surveys has been sent to all families and will conclude on the 18 August. All families, school staff and students in target year levels (5 and 6) are invited to participate.
Thank you to our 105 families who have so far completed this informative survey that is used by our school to continue improving.
We encourage you to take this opportunity to have your say about what our school does well, and how we can improve. It only takes 5 minutes and means a great deal to your student’s future. Keep an eye out for yours!
Can’t find your invitation? If your family has more than one parent/caregiver, check that they haven’t received the invitation and/or check your junk email folder as well.
Stay Safe on the Roads and Park Smart in our Neighbourhood!
As part of our commitment to the safety of our students and the community, we urge everyone to practice road safety and considerate parking. The Road Safety and Toowoomba Regional Council Parking Team are actively monitoring our area. Remember to use the "Snap, Send, and Solve" tool to report any unsafe behaviour or parking concerns. Let's ensure our neighbourhood and school community remains safe for everyone.
STUDENT FREE DAY – 1September
Friday 1 September is a gazetted Student Free Day. The day is intended for professional development and collaboration. As part of an agreement developed with the Local Consultative Committee earlier this year, staff have participated in a range of activities outside school hours and, as a result, will not be in attendance on this day.
Congratulations to Mrs Lizzy Smiddy (Special Education Teacher) who has been successful in her application for Acting Head Of Special Education Services, Glenvale State School for the rest of this term with a possibility of extension for Term 4 2023. Welcome to Mrs Melissa Sheppard who has recently graduated and was a teacher aide at Rangeville during her studies will replace Mrs Smiddy during this time.
On a personal note, thank you to all of the families who contributed beautiful comments on the P&C Facebook page regarding last week’s Primary Principal Day. Thank you – I love my job and my school!

Upcoming: Information Sessions for Parents – PBL (Behaviour)
We are excited to announce upcoming information sessions on key aspects of PBL (Positive Behaviour for Learning), which is an essential part of our curriculum at Rangeville State School. These free sessions will be held twice a term, on Tuesday afternoons in week 5 and 9, from 2:15-2:45pm (see dates below).
Our focus during these sessions is to share the principles of each topic based on research, show how the school implement these practices, reflect on ways this can be adapted to home, and allow for question-and-answer time.
Please email Nelson McGrath nemcg0@eq.edu.au if you are interested in attending any of the sessions or if you have any further questions.
Date | Term and Week | Topic |
31/10/23 | Term 4, Week 5 | Corrective Strategies |
28/11/23 | Term 4, Week 9 | Bullying |
We look forward to seeing you at these sessions, and thank you for your ongoing support.
QParents
QParents is a secure, online portal that has been created by the Department of Education to provide parents of Queensland state school students with 24-hour access to their child's information. The portal allows you to securely access information about your child and communicate directly with your child's school.
QParents provides secure, online access to student information such as:
- attendance details
- consent forms
- payment of invoices
- payment history
- behaviour
- report cards and assessment dates
- upcoming events
- timetables
- student photo
In addition to the information provided, it's important to note that the QParents portal only sends invoices to the parent/carer who is responsible for 100% of the student's school fees. This means that if there are multiple parents or carers who share responsibility for fees, only one of them will receive the invoice through the portal. It's important for parents and carers to communicate and coordinate payment arrangements if they are sharing the responsibility for fees.
We encourage you to register for QParents. To do this, simply express your interest by emailing mllew16@eq.edu.au or by phoning 4617 733 and Mrs Llewellyn will email you an invitation to register (which includes your log-in code) and your childs unique EQID. Please see the attached factsheet for more information.

Lost Property
As the winter season approaches, we often come across an abundance of abandoned jumpers and warm clothes. If your child has misplaced any personal items, we kindly request that you check their classrooms or visit our designated Lost and Found area (located on the verandah near the Uniform Shop). This is where we collect and store items that have been left behind in classrooms, playgrounds and other areas of the school.
Currently, our Lost and Found area is populated with a considerable number of lunchboxes and water bottles. If your child happens to be missing any of these items, we encourage you to take a moment to search for them there. For more valuable items such as glasses and watches, you can visit the administration office, where we hold these items securely.
We encourage you to clearly label your child's items with their name and class. This simple measure greatly aids in identifying lost items. Please note that at the end of each term, any remaining unclaimed items will be collected and removed.
