Principal's News
As we approach the end of term may we pause to consider all that has happened over the last 19 weeks since the start of the year. Next week, our Semester One Report Cards will be emailed home. Please take the time to reflect with your child on their individual highlights and achievements and celebrate together these successes.
Senior Athletics Carnival Success
What a beautiful couple of days spent celebrating our students’ athletic abilities, competitiveness, sportsmanship and outstanding behaviour. Congratulations to our students who have participated in the Senior Athletics Carnival. There were some amazing individual and team achievements across the two days. On Monday, 19 June at 2:30 pm in W Block Hall we will present our Age Champion Trophies and announce the overall house winner.
Thank you to our Centenary Heights Senior Hospitality Students who in collaboration with our Rangeville P&C ran the coffee and baked goods stall yesterday. This wonderful partnership ensures the Senior Students receive some real-life hospitality experience and our school and community get the pleasure of an onsite café experience.
Thank you to all of our staff and parent volunteers for their organisation, efforts and support as collectively we ensured a very successful carnival occurred for our students.
School Support Staff Recognition Week
School Support Staff Recognition Week is celebrated annually in June, and provides us with an opportunity to acknowledge the vital role that support staff play in education - our schools simply would not function without these valued support personnel. From school facilities officers (grounds staff), to administrative officers and cleaning colleagues, our support staff are dedicated professionals. Every single one of these amazing people support world class education in Queensland and it’s a pleasure to be able to remind everyone just how important the work they do is. So, from an appreciative school community thank you School Support Staff for the wonderful commitment you make to our school, students and community at Rangeville each day!
Semester 1 Student Report Cards
Students of all Prep-Year 6 classes who have been in attendance through substantial teaching, learning and assessment periods at school will be issued with an Academic Progress Report Card for Semester 1. For those students who have been in full attendance for the year, the Report Card is issued twice per year - in June and December. Like many schools, at Rangeville your child’s Report Card will be largely completed by their class teacher and other specialist teachers to provide an insight into their current progress and achievement in a number of key learning areas. The Semester 1 Report Cards will be distributed electronically via email before the children head into the winter school vacation period and will be available to parents on Wednesday 21 June. Families who utilise Q Parents will receive a notification when their child’s report card is ready to be downloaded on this date as well.
Celebrations and Successes in Music
This past fortnight has continued to see a large number of our students participating in a range of rewarding musical opportunities. Following the success of our Years 5/6 Voices Choir at the bi-annual Choral FANFARE on Monday 5th June, last Wednesday we were witness to 80 of our talented Instrumental String ensembles - beginner, intermediate & advanced students - who performed exceptionally well in a series of workshops throughout the day before performing in a mini-Concert at the Empire Theatre. A huge thank you and congratulations to Mrs Johansen who organised this event for our entire region and also to all of the Rangeville staff that helped on the day and during the evening performance.
Congratulations to the following students who have recently represented at the State Honours Ensemble Program at Griffith University:
- Grace S - Primary Vocal
- Elouisa L - Middle School Vocal
Staffing Update:
- Thank you to Mrs Heidi Kelly who finished with us last week and will now take up a teaching position at Glenvale State School. Heidi has been a much-loved Prep Teacher Aide for the last 12 years and will be sorely missed by all. We wish her all the best in her first teaching position.
- Thank you to Mrs Fiona Covey who also finished with us last week to take up a administrative position at Lake Clarendon. Fiona has worked with us for the last two years as a general teacher aide across the school.

Promoting Considerate Parking
We would like to kindly request your attention and cooperation regarding the proper parking practices near our school premises.
As caring parents, we deeply understand that the safety and well-being of your children are of utmost importance to you. By embracing considerate parking habits, we can collectively create a safer and more harmonious environment for everyone involved, including our students, dedicated staff, and our supportive neighbours.
Respecting Neighbours' Driveways
We kindly ask you to be mindful of our neighbours' and avoid parking across or blocking their driveways. We recognise that our neighbours have the right to access their properties without any hindrance. We can demonstrate our consideration by refraining from parking in front of driveways, even if it is just for a brief period of time.
Avoiding Bus Zones
Bus zones are specifically designated areas that ensure the smooth and efficient flow of school buses. Parking in these zones not only disrupts the pick-up and drop-off routines but also poses a safety hazard for our students. We can prioritise the well-being of our children by refraining from parking in these designated bus zones.
Respecting Staff Car Parks
Our dedicated teaching and administrative staff work tirelessly to provide the best education and support for our children. We kindly request that you refrain from parking in designated staff car parks, as these spaces are crucial for our teachers and staff to carry out their responsibilities effectively. Unauthorised vehicles, unless they have approved permits, found on Education Queensland property may result in your vehicle being towed. For the safety of our students, please use pedestrian pathways when walking your child to and from school and avoid walking through staff car parks.
Avoiding Median Strips
Median strips play a vital role in enhancing traffic flow and pedestrian safety. Parking on these strips not only obstructs traffic but also increases the risk of accidents and endangers pedestrians crossing the road. We can remain mindful of the purpose of median strips and refrain from parking on them.
By adhering to these parking guidelines, we can collectively create a safer and more considerate environment for our school community.
Please remember our actions have a direct impact on the overall safety and well-being of our children and the broader community. By fostering a culture of respect and consideration, we can ensure that our school remains a positive and nurturing environment.
We genuinely appreciate your attention and cooperation in this matter.
Upcoming: Information Sessions for Parents – PBL (Behaviour)
We are excited to announce upcoming information sessions on key aspects of PBL (Positive Behaviour for Learning), which is an essential part of our curriculum at Rangeville State School. These free sessions will be held twice a term, on Tuesday afternoons in week 5 and 9, from 2:15-2:45pm (see dates below).
Our focus during these sessions is to share the principles of each topic based on research, show how the school implement these practices, reflect on ways this can be adapted to home, and allow for question-and-answer time.
Please email Nelson McGrath nemcg0@eq.edu.au if you are interested in attending any of the sessions or if you have any further questions.
Date | Term and Week | Topic |
31/10/23 | Term 4, Week 5 | Corrective Strategies |
28/11/23 | Term 4, Week 9 | Bullying |
We look forward to seeing you at these sessions, and thank you for your ongoing support.

QParents
QParents is a secure, online portal that has been created by the Department of Education to provide parents of Queensland state school students with 24-hour access to their child's information. The portal allows you to securely access information about your child and communicate directly with your child's school.
QParents provides secure, online access to student information such as:
- attendance details
- consent forms
- payment of invoices
- payment history
- behaviour
- report cards and assessment dates
- upcoming events
- timetables
- student photo
In addition to the information provided, it's important to note that the QParents portal only sends invoices to the parent/carer who is responsible for 100% of the student's school fees. This means that if there are multiple parents or carers who share responsibility for fees, only one of them will receive the invoice through the portal. It's important for parents and carers to communicate and coordinate payment arrangements if they are sharing the responsibility for fees.
We encourage you to register for QParents. To do this, simply express your interest by emailing mllew16@eq.edu.au or by phoning 4617 733 and Mrs Llewellyn will email you an invitation to register (which includes your log-in code) and your childs unique EQID. Please see the attached factsheet for more information.

Absentees during the term
If you have a booking at the service and your child goes home early from school, is absent or not coming for either BSC or ASC please let us know via your xplor app (preferred option) or email roshc@rangevilless.eq.edu.au as soon as possible.
Lost Property
As the winter season approaches, we often come across an abundance of abandoned jumpers and warm clothes. If your child has misplaced any personal items, we kindly request that you check their classrooms or visit our designated Lost and Found area (located on the verandah near the Uniform Shop). This is where we collect and store items that have been left behind in classrooms, playgrounds and other areas of the school.
Currently, our Lost and Found area is populated with a considerable number of lunchboxes and water bottles. If your child happens to be missing any of these items, we encourage you to take a moment to search for them there. For more valuable items such as glasses and watches, you can visit the administration office, where we hold these items securely.
We encourage you to clearly label your child's items with their name and class. This simple measure greatly aids in identifying lost items. Please note that at the end of each term, any remaining unclaimed items will be collected and removed.
