Principal's News
What a massive two-week period we’ve all had at Rangeville. Congratulations to our students, staff and P&C for all of their efforts, fantastic behaviour and achievements at the various events, activities and assessment opportunities.
Congratulations to our two Rangeville Teams at the All-Abilities Touch Gala Day on the 23/5/23. The excitement, energy and engagement from all of our competitors (certified and non-certified) on the morning and throughout the day was amazing. The comments made by the players about the opportunity and experience was really heartwarming and confirms why we do what we do every day. One comment that was said to the Chronicle newspaper was: “This is the first time that I have ever had the chance to play a game with one of my friends. Normally he isn’t allowed to play and must just watch me, and our friends and he misses out.” Well done to all of our staff who organised, ran and loved the experience as much as our wonderful kids!
All Abilities Touch Carnival
Attendance Week
Congratulations to our wonderful students and parents on their efforts to attend school this week and join in the fun, planned activities. Our whole school attendance last week was 88.1% but for Attendance Week, our attendance rose to 93.8%!!!
Classes were receiving double paperclips all week for their Attendance Chains, which meant rewards were being reached a little quicker. We all dressed up in our maroon or blue to support our State of Origin teams, and we took part in some really fun activities in lunch breaks. There was a dance party, outdoor art, indigenous games, pathway graffiti, and a boot camp! A huge thankyou to Miss Olsen, Mrs Rigby, Mr Morris, Chappy, Mr Crowley, and Mr Cullen for giving up their lunch breaks to run these activities for the students. Their efforts are very much appreciated.
Let’s keep up this great attendance as we head into Week 8 and the remainder of Term 2.
Attendance Week Fun :)

Road Safety
At Rangeville State School, the safety and well-being of our students are of utmost importance. As part of our ongoing efforts to promote road safety, we would like to draw your attention to the crucial issue of safe parking in our neighbourhood.
Toowoomba Regional Council's Parking Team has recently increased surveillance in the area to address parking concerns and ensure the safety of our children. It is essential that all parents, guardians, and visitors adhere to the designated parking regulations and road safety guidelines.
By following these guidelines, we can create a secure environment for our students to navigate the neighbourhood safely. Please be mindful of the following key points:
- Respect Designated Parking Areas: Utilise designated parking spaces near the school premises and avoid parking in restricted areas, such as bus stops and no-parking zones. This will help maintain traffic flow and ensure the safety of all pedestrians.
- Observe Speed Limits: Always adhere to the posted speed limits within our neighbourhood. Reducing speed significantly reduces the risk of accidents, especially in school zones.
- Be Alert and Cautious: Stay vigilant while driving near the school. Watch out for children crossing the road, especially during peak drop-off and pick-up times. Pedestrians have the right of way, so please exercise patience and caution.
- Model Safe Behaviour: As responsible adults, it is crucial that we set an example for our children by demonstrating safe and responsible road use. Encourage them to use designated pedestrian crossings and look both ways before crossing the road.
Together, we can create a secure and harmonious environment for our Rangeville State School community. Let's prioritize the safety of our children by following road safety guidelines and respecting parking regulations.
Thank you for your cooperation in making our neighbourhood a safer place for everyone.

What's on in the Library this term?
We would like to update you on the exciting events happening in our school library this term.
- Coding Club - Monday's second break playtime for students in years 3-6. This is a great opportunity for your children to develop their computer skills and engage in exciting projects.
- Storytelling - Tuesday's second break playtime. This will be an excellent opportunity for students to develop their creativity, imagination, and public speaking skills. Additionally, we would like to extend an invitation to parents, carers, and grandparents who are willing to share a story with the Storytelling library group. If you have a favourite tale to tell, we would love to hear it! Please register your interest by emailing Mrs Williams at swill396@eq.edu.au. Let's inspire the love of storytelling and reading together.
- Japanese Chess - Tuesday's second break playtime. This is a super fun experience that students love, and we welcome everyone to join us! Japanese Chess is run by Mr Watson. Whether your child is a seasoned player or just curious about the game, we encourage them to come and give it a try. They might even discover a new passion!
- Chess Club - Wednesday's during first break playtime. Students have been enjoying this activity for a while now and it's great to see them developing their strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Lego Building - Thursday's second break playtime. We believe that this will be a fun activity that will allow students to engage in creative play while developing their critical thinking skills.
If you have any additional information or any fabulous ideas, please feel free to drop in and have a chat with us at the Library, or send an email to Mrs Williams at swill396@eq.edu.au. We are always looking for ways to improve our library activities and provide the best learning experience for your children.
Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to seeing your children engage in these exciting activities.
Lego Club
Lego Club is held in the library on Thursdays second break from 1:20pm to 1:30pm. Anyone can come! We have competitions each week, some may be solo, some may be in groups of 2 or 3. If you don’t want to participate in the competitions, you can choose to do free build instead. The three senior students that run the Lego Club will choose the build for the competitions and choose the three top builds. The top three builds receive prizes and have their build on display for 1 week.

QParents
QParents is a secure, online portal that has been created by the Department of Education to provide parents of Queensland state school students with 24-hour access to their child's information. The portal allows you to securely access information about your child and communicate directly with your child's school.
QParents provides secure, online access to student information such as:
- attendance details
- consent forms
- payment of invoices
- payment history
- behaviour
- report cards and assessment dates
- upcoming events
- timetables
- student photo
In addition to the information provided, it's important to note that the QParents portal only sends invoices to the parent/carer who is responsible for 100% of the student's school fees. This means that if there are multiple parents or carers who share responsibility for fees, only one of them will receive the invoice through the portal. It's important for parents and carers to communicate and coordinate payment arrangements if they are sharing the responsibility for fees.
We encourage you to register for QParents. To do this, simply express your interest by emailing mllew16@eq.edu.au or by phoning 4617 733 and Mrs Llewellyn will email you an invitation to register (which includes your log-in code) and your childs unique EQID. Please see the attached factsheet for more information.

Rangeville State School P&C Association Outside School Hours Care (ROSHC)
Benefits of play base learning within OSHC
Play and leisure experiences constructed by children and young people, and supported by informed educators, promote children and young people’s dynamic, complex and holistic learning. Children and young people’s happiness, optimism and sense of fun are dispositions significant to their emotional and mental wellbeing and resilience. Play and leisure experiences capitalise on children and young people’s interests, natural inclinations to be curious, explore and learn. Participation in these experiences: allows for the expression of personality and uniqueness • offers opportunities for multimodal play that enhances thinking skills and lifelong learning dispositions such as curiosity, persistence and creativity • enables children and young people to make connections between prior experiences and new learning and to transfer learning from one experience to another • assists children and young people to develop and build relationships and friendships • develops knowledge acquisition and concepts in authentic contexts • builds a sense of identity • integrates emotions, thinking and motivation that assists to strengthen brain functioning • strengthens self-regulation, and physical and mental wellbeing.
Reconciliation Week
National Reconciliation Week is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. This week we have been celebrating Reconciliation week with the children running many different activities and holding conversations with them. The theme for National Reconciliation Week 2023, Be a Voice for Generations, encourages all Australians to be a voice for reconciliation in tangible ways in our everyday lives – where we live, work and socialise. The dates for National Reconciliation Week remain the same each year; 27 May to 3 June. These dates commemorate two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey— the successful 1967 referendum, and the High Court Mabo decision respectively.
Absentees
If you have a booking at the service and your child goes home early from school, is absent or not coming for either BSC or ASC please let us know via your xplor app (preferred option) or email roshc@rangevilless.eq.edu.au as soon as possible.
Bus Queensland School Route 997
Please see the Bus Queensland School Route 997 update below. For further information or to find out whether this change will affect your family, please phone Bus Queensland on 1300 287 537 or visit busqld.com.au
Lost Property
As the winter season approaches, we often come across an abundance of abandoned jumpers and warm clothes. If your child has misplaced any personal items, we kindly request that you check their classrooms or visit our designated Lost and Found area (located on the verandah near the Uniform Shop). This is where we collect and store items that have been left behind in classrooms, playgrounds and other areas of the school.
Currently, our Lost and Found area is populated with a considerable number of lunchboxes and water bottles. If your child happens to be missing any of these items, we encourage you to take a moment to search for them there. For more valuable items such as glasses and watches, you can visit the administration office, where we hold these items securely.
We encourage you to clearly label your child's items with their name and class. This simple measure greatly aids in identifying lost items. Please note that at the end of each term, any remaining unclaimed items will be collected and removed.
Have your details changed?
Please email admin@rangevilless.eq.edu.au or phone 4617 7333 to let us know if your contact details (email address, mobile number or home address), family circumstances, work place or emergency contacts have recently changed so that we can update your details.
