Eisteddfod News
Once again we have had an extremely successful Eisteddfod. In our Strings Department, we received first place for:
- Symphony Orchestra
- Chamber Strings
- String Quartet and
- 1st and 3rd for String Orchestra
This meant that Rangeville State School was awarded the Primary String Aggregate. Our Junior Concert Band also won their division. Congratulations to all of our musicans.
What was most impressive was the many comments from people both from our Rangeville State School community and strangers commenting on how joyful and happy our students looked when they were performing, and that was what stood out the most from the other schools.
Thank you to our parents and families for their constant support, encouragement of their child and promotion of a love of music, to ensure that our students are always ready and have undertaken the required practice to succeed.
Thank you to our P&C for their constant and generous support of our Music Program.
We took 107 students to the Empire last Friday night and a smaller group on Saturday and it wouldn't have been possible without a fabulous team of teachers willing to give up time to help. Thank you to Mrs Jess Johansen, Mr Matthew Henry, Mr Cameron Smith, Mrs Sue Hagley, Mrs Rosie Tardent, Mrs Nicole Clarke, Mr Cody Corum, Mrs Ruth Brouwer and Mrs Jodie Rigby. Other Feedback received, “The Rangeville Kids were amazing and Jess has them eating out of the palm of her hands. She is a class above. Well done everyone involved.”
Solid Pathways Term 2
Congratulations to the ten students involved who have successfully completed the Term 2 Solid Pathways program. The program focused on advanced inquiry skills.
Sports News
Fifty students attended the Range Zone carnival on Monday with great results. Mr Morris noted how proud he was of all the Rangeville students on their achievements and behaviour shown throughout the day. The highlight of the day was the last event, the relays. Out of the four races we secured two first places, a second and a fourth place. That Rangeville chant could be heard across the oval was the secret to their successes.
Results indicate that 14 students will go on to represent Rangeville State School at the Darling Downs Athletics Championships on August 23. Congratulations to everyone involved!
2022 School Opinion Survey
Thank you to all the parents/caregivers, students and school staff who completed this year's School Opinion Survey. We look forward to sharing our survey results with you when we receive our school report later this year.

Rangeville students ROAR at Zone Athletics Trials
On Monday 8 August a strong team of 50 students represented our school at the Range Zone Athletics trials. Many students exceeded their personal best achievements and all competed with passion and pride!
It is with my great honour to acknowledge the following 14 students whom have been selected to attend the Regional Athletics trials which are to be held on Wednesday 24 August. This is a huge result as our school has had the most students selected out of all the Toowoomba schools.

A huge thank you goes out to all the parents/guardians who attended this competition to cheer our boys on. Your efforts went a long way in enabling me the opportunity to coach and train these boys.

Rangeville State School P&C Association Outside School Hours Care (ROSHC)
In the last few weeks at ROSHC, childrens' imagination has been running wild! Tents and camping grounds have been made in the room as children explore their interest of the outdoors in a warm environment while outside we have been taking care of the bush tucker garden, trying flavours of native Australian plants and even creating a camp fire from pick up sticks. Learning through play is an important part of children’s development.
Imaginative play can be described as an act of role-play where a child draws upon their imagination based on previous knowledge and experience to explore new ideas, materials and scenarios. During imaginative play, children may be a different character, transform materials into new objects or find themselves in a new world creating their own stories. Play and leisure activities provide opportunities for children to learn as they discover, create, improvise and imagine. When children play with other children they create social groups, test out ideas, challenge each other’s thinking and build new understandings. Play provides a supportive environment where children can ask questions, solve problems and engage in critical thinking. Play can expand children’s thinking and enhance their desire to know and to learn. In these ways play can promote positive dispositions towards learning. Children’s immersion in their play illustrates how play enables them to simply enjoy being.
Play also allows children to work on a variety of physical skills such as hand-eye coordination, fine motor (small skills like moving fingers and toes) and gross motor (skills like kicking and catching).
The next few weeks will give the children a hands-on opportunity to explore science and literature as both science week and book week are here and always a favourite as children create, discover new things and develop confident identities.
!!!!!! IMPORANT INFORMATION !!!!!!
Notifying Absences
Families are required to notify ROSHC of all absences. The school does not notify ROSHC if your child is absent or goes home early.
If a child is booked in and does not attend, educators are required to search the school grounds, and at times contact the police. This means that educators are not able to perform their normal duties. Recently there have been several occasions where educators have searched the school for 20 minutes as they are unable to get in contact with parents.
Below is an exert from our policy and procedure manual. For the full policy please go to https://www.rsspandc.com.au/_files/ugd/80dcff_430f3d81c75b45e49b02ef85a2e38f3a.pdf
2.4 Arrivals and Departures of Children
Confirming Absences
- At approx. 3:10pm the Responsible Person is responsible for confirming the whereabouts of children that have not arrived by contacting parents/guardians and the school.
- Once confirmation of absence from parents and/or emergency contacts or school is given the student will be confirmed as non-attending.
- Where a child’s location cannot be confirmed, the following actions will be taken to locate the child and expected attendance by
- checking of school grounds and immediate proximity,
- communicating with the school office, and
- phoning all parents/emergency contacts.
- Where a child cannot be located after reasonable effort to identify their whereabouts and where parents/emergency contact cannot be contacted the Police will be notified. Continued effort will be made to contact the parents and/or emergency contacts.
