Principal's News
What a massive two-week period we’ve all had at Rangeville. Congratulations to our students, staff and P&C for all of their efforts, fantastic behaviour and achievements at the various events, activities and assessment opportunities.
Regional FANFARE – Junior Strings Regional Winner
Dear Jess, Matt and Ben,
Congratulations on your school’s regional finals’ performance yesterday! It’s very impressive to have 2 out of the 4 primary ensembles from the region come from you school and, of course, have Jess take out the secondary prize too 😊 Congratulations to the Junior Strings for winning the DDSW Regional Fanfare – amazing.
From here, the adjudicators will chose 5 primary schools from all over the state when each region has finished with their finals to perform at the State finals in mid-August. Fingers crossed!
Congratulations to all of your students involved and to their families as well.

DANGATTI House – Overall Athletics Carnival Winners
Congratulations to Dangatti House who were our overall winners at this years Athletics Carnival. Congratulations to all of our athletes for their efforts, sportsmanship and team contributions over the three days. These are the days that you fondly look back on during your schooling. We could not have asked for three better days of weather, sportsmanship and athletic ability on display. Well done everyone. Thank you to our P&C for their efforts in organising the Centenary Heights State High Students who ran the coffee and cake stall each morning. This emerging partnership is a wonderful budding relationship that meets the needs of our high school students and our whole school community. We look forward to further opportunities to work together again.
Congratulations to our staff for their collective efforts across the three days to ensure that our students had a wonderful time and achieved their best at all times.
Congratulations to Mr Morris for all of his significant organisation, communications, and efforts. A successful carnival such as this week is no easy feet and Mr Morris did an absolutely fabulous job as our organiser and convener to ensure its success. Thank you Mr Morris for all that you did.
Outdoor Learning Environment: EDUMarking
We thank our P&C for their generous donation and support of this long standing facilities upgrade. We know that these enhancements will help brighten our wonderful school learning environment and I have absolutely loved listening to the students and staff discuss and utilise the wonderful stencils for games and learning opportunities as well as watching our students and their families explore the various stencils throughout the school.
Facilities Upgrades over the June July Holiday
Asbestos removal: During the first week of the school holidays (27/6 – 1/7) the asbestos containing material in the flooring and ceiling of A Block will be removed. During this time our staff and ROSHC will not be permitted to be onsite. Once the all clear is provided by QBuild, I will email clearance to all staff, ROSHC Staff and P&C Executive. I apologise for the inconvenience this will cause our families and ROSHC staff and the financial impact this will have for our P&C.
B Block Covered Link and Ramp: During the second week of the school holidays, work will commence on the installation of a covered link and an accessibility ramp in front of B Block. This work will potentially take a month to complete and we are awaiting to find out if we will need to relocate our Year 4/6 and Year 6 classes during this time.
Instrumental Music Room Upgrade: Starting next week, our instrumental music room will undergo an upgrade that will include removal of walls and a swap of storage and teaching spaces to enable a larger learning space. This work will be completed by the start of the Term Three. Instrumental music lessons will be disrupted from Wednesday next week.
As this will be the final newsletter of the term, on behalf of my staff, we wish everyone a safe and restful holiday and we look forward to Learning, Achieving and Growing again in Semester Two.

Student of the Week
Congratulations to our Student of the Week recipients in years P-2!
Due to the three days of carnival this week, no year level parades occurred for Year 3-6.
Crazy Hair Day!
Calling all Rangeville State School students to come along next Friday 24 June (last day of term) with your craziest hair and gold coin donation! Cooper Bothmann has raised close to $2500 for Blood Cancer research and with Rangeville’s help we can help him reach over $3000. Mr Kidd has generously agreed to shave his head for winter if we can raise $1200!
Asthma Medication at School
Now that we are entering the winter season, we are currently reviewing the most recent requirements for self-administration of asthma medication.
A parent/carer can advise the school administration of their decision to allow their child to be responsible for self-managing their asthma if a parent/carer believes that their child can:
- confidently, competently and safely administer the right dose of their own asthma medication at the right times
- can store their medication securely, and
- is aware of the importance of attempting to notify staff if they feel symptoms and intend to self-administer their medication, but not to delay self-administration if they can’t notify a staff member in time.
For primary school students, the principal/delegate is required to complete a risk assessment, considering the maturity of the student.
The principal/delegate may overturn a parent’s/carer’s/student’s decision at any time if there are any significant risks associated with the student self-administering medication during school or school-related activities.
If your child currently carries asthma medication in their school bag or has asthma medication held at the office or classroom, please ensure you first notify the office of your decision to allow your child to self-administer their medication via email admin@rangevilless.eq.edu.au and ensure your child’s current asthma action plan is attached. The principal/delegate will then carry out a risk assessment.
Should you wish for staff to administer your child’s asthma medication, please ensure asthma medication is labelled by a pharmacist and brought to the office. You will be required to complete a medication form at the office which will be held with your child’s medication and action plan.
If you have any questions about the above procedure, please contact the office on 4617 7333.
