Principal's Celebration

As we come to the end of Term One, I would like to take the opportunity to reflect on what has been a busy and productive start to the year. Our students have embraced learning with enthusiasm, demonstrating our school values of being safe, respectful learners in all aspects of school life.
Throughout the term, we have engaged in a number of important events, including our school review and implementation of the new V9 Curriculum - English and Math. These opportunities have allowed us to reflect on our systems, processes and progress and set a strong foundation for continued success.
We also navigated the challenges of the recent TC Alfred and I want to commend our students, staff, and families for their understanding and support during this time.
As we head into the holiday break, I encourage everyone to take time to rest, recharge and enjoy time with family and friends. Stay safe, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back for another great term of learning.
Wishing you all a happy and safe holiday!
Cross Country / Fun Run
Thank you for your understanding of our recent postponing of the 2025 Cross Country / Fun Run.
Thank you to our 10-12 year olds who completed their trials this week to ensure we have nomination information by the required due date.
We invite families to attend our Cross Country / Fun Run on the NEW date of Friday 2 May which will run as per the advertised program.
Thank you to Gemma & Andrew Rasmussen for their efforts in introducing our Fun Run fundraising opportunity. Thank you to our families and community for supporting students with donations. Prizes will be handed out after the new Cross Country / Fun Run!
Mayoral Morning Tea

On Thursday 20 March, our student leaders attended the Mayoral Morning Tea. This is an opportunity to mix with other students, staff and community members during the event. Thank you to Mrs Briese who attended the event with our students.
Sporting Superstars
Congratulations to Chayse and Eli who were selected in the Marlins Oztag Top 30 to trial for the National Oztag Champs.

News from Mrs Griffiths
CELEBRATING OUR MUSIC SUCCESS!
What a week it has been for our instrumental musicians throughout the school! On Tuesday we welcomed Dr Rachel Howley, conductor from the Open Conservatorium - Queensland Conservatorium of Music, to work with our Senior, Junior and Beginner Bands. This unique opportunity allowed our young musicians to refine their skills, gain new insights and experience the joy of music. I had the opportunity to watch part of these sessions and was impressed by our student’s enthusiasm, dedication and willingness to learn, making the most of this valuable experience.
On Thursday night, I had the pleasure of attending the Music Immersion Day Concert at Centenary Heights State High School. 44 of our Years 5 and 6 students showcased their musical talents, performing alongside students from other local schools. The amazing energy, creativity and skill of the combined talent of all students left a lasting impression on everyone in the audience. What an amazing experience!
A BIG thank you to our dedicated music staff for making both of these events possible! Your tireless support of our students and organisational efforts have helped to create these memorable experiences.
HARMONY DAY
Our Week 8 Parade was a sea of orange and cultural dress as our school community recognised Harmony Day. Students celebrated and embraced the diversity that enriches the Rangeville State School community. Speeches from students sharing their story in coming to Australia and a performance from our Strings Ensemble were certainly part of the highlights of this special parade. A warm thank you goes to Mrs Tay and Mrs Williams for all of your work in the background to make the assembly and follow-up activities so meaningful. Let us continue to embrace diversity and spread the message of harmony throughout our community!

LOTS OF SOCKS
On March 21st our students were invited to participate in the ‘Lots of Socks’ campaign to raise awareness of Down Syndrome among the community. This global awareness day has been officially observed by the United Nations since 2012. This date was chosen to signify the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome which causes Down Syndrome. A big thank you to Declan and Mrs Keane for sharing the message of celebrating our uniqueness as individuals and raising awareness of Down Syndrome.
SHOW YOUR TRUE COLOURS CAMPAIGN
Autism Queensland is using the month of April for their ‘Show Your True Colours’ campaign. AQ’s campaign aims to foster understanding, celebrate diversity, and create real change by building more inclusive communities, schools, and workplaces. They are holding a colouring-in competition drawn by AQ Ambassador Martin Edge, with entries closing April 30. The competition page can be accessed using the following link: https://autismqld.com.au/colouring-competition/ Classes and individual students are invited to participate in this competition. Students are encouraged to be creative, using their boldest colours! To enter the competition, take a clear photo or scan the completed colouring sheet, emailing it to fundraise@autismqld.com.au with your child’s name, age and contact details.

SEE YOU NEXT TERM!
I hope that our students enjoy a safe and relaxing break. Thank you to our parents for your continued involvement in our school community. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in Term 2, recharged and ready for the exciting opportunities ahead.
News from Mrs Hagley
Today was a day of ‘goodbye for now’ at Rangeville State School as a number of our staff embark on new adventures for the rest of the year.
Mrs Brianne Forrest from the office starts her maternity leave today and we wish her all the best as she prepares for the arrival of a new addition to her family.
Mrs Angeline Hall, our Year 6H teacher, leaves us today to begin a tenure for the rest of the year with the Queensland College of Teachers. Best of luck Mrs Hall - we look forward to your return to Rangeville SS next year.

Mrs Janice Willshire who has been a long-standing member of our Admin team is taking leave to enjoy some well-earned time to herself. Many of our families will be familiar with Janice and know how hard she works to support the students at our school. We will miss Janice’s presence in the office and are excited to hear about the adventures she has during her well-deserved time away.

School Watch
The School Watch program encourages everyone to look out for and report any after-hours crime in our schools. Empty schools can become targets for unlawful entry, arson, stealing, graffiti and property damage, especially during school holiday periods.
So we need our community to be our eyes and ears to keep our school safe.
So please ‘Look, Listen, Report’. Call School Watch on 13 17 88.
If you see a crime in progress, call Triple Zero (000).

A Musical Masterclass with Dr. Rachel Howley!
On Tuesday, April 1st, Rangeville was treated to an incredible experience when Dr. Rachel Howley from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music visited to conduct workshops with all of our school bands!
It was a true privilege for our students to work with such an experienced and talented conductor. Dr. Howley’s expertise and energy brought out the best in every student, and the progress they made in just one session was truly remarkable!
Our students were inspired, motivated, and buzzing with new ideas after the workshops, learning new techniques that will elevate their music to the next level. Dr. Howley is already excited to return in Term 3 for even more amazing sessions with our talented musicians!
A huge thank you to Dr. Howley for sharing her knowledge and passion with us—and to our students for their hard work and dedication. We can’t wait to see what the next workshop will bring!

A Day of Music Magic at Centenary Heights State High School!
On Thursday, April 3rd, over 40 talented students from Rangeville, along with students from 4 other Primary Schools took part in the CHSHS Music Immersion Program! These Year 5 & 6 students, who are already excelling in instrumental music and choral singing, had the incredible opportunity to dive into a day full of dynamic workshops and hands-on classroom experiences, all designed to give them a taste of the fantastic music program at CHSHS.
The highlight was an evening performance where the students proudly presented the pieces they'd worked on throughout the day. To end the performance, the entire group of performers from the Primary Schools and CHSHS came together for a breathtaking massed choir performance which was simply amazing!
A HUGE thank you to CHSHS and their incredible staff for putting together such an inspiring and fun-filled day. And of course, a massive shout-out to all the amazing Rangeville students—your talent truly shone through!
Darling Downs SHEP

We are incredibly proud of Year 6 student Theo L, who recently participated in the Darling Downs State Ensemble Honours Program at Centenary Heights State High School. Theo was one of only a handful of primary school students selected for this prestigious program and was a member of the Vocal Ensemble, conducted by Kate Albury.
Representing Rangeville State School with pride, Theo showcased his dedication, talent, and passion for music. This is a wonderful achievement, and we commend him for his hard work and commitment.
Well done, Theo!

This year Rangeville is going to participate in the Opti-MINDS Challenge. Miss Olsen will be facilitating the challenge this year, so please let her know if this sparks your interest. Keep an eye out in the newsletter in the next few months for more information regarding expressions of interest and commitment.
In a world where the ‘facts’ change daily – we need to change our thinking! Opti-MINDS IS the PROCESS of CHANGE…The opportunity to Opti-MISE your thinking for Opti-MUM performance!
Opti-MINDS is a process of PREVENTION – rather than a damage control; it instils a proactive mindset of:
- Capability – “Can Do!”
- Responsibility – “If not me – then who?”
- Creativity & Innovation; &
- Unashamed EXCELLENCE, within participants; encouraging them to REALISE their own capacity and responsibility to ‘MAKE the DIFFERENCE’ for themselves – & to come from an “IF NOT, WHY NOT?” stance.

QParents

QParents is a secure, online portal that has been created by the Department of Education to provide parents of Queensland state school students with 24-hour access to their child's information. The portal allows you to securely access information about your child and communicate directly with your child's school.
QParents provides secure, online access to student information such as:
- attendance details
- consent forms
- payment of invoices
- payment history
- behaviour
- report cards and assessment dates
- upcoming events
- timetables
- student photo
In addition to the information provided, it's important to note that the QParents portal only sends invoices to the parent/carer who is responsible for 100% of the student's school fees. This means that if there are multiple parents or carers who share responsibility for fees, only one of them will receive the invoice through the portal. It's important for parents and carers to communicate and coordinate payment arrangements if they are sharing the responsibility for fees.
We encourage you to register for QParents. To do this, simply express your interest by emailing mllew16@eq.edu.au or by phoning 4617 733 and Mrs Llewellyn will email you an invitation to register (which includes your log-in code) and your childs unique EQID. Your child's EQID can also be found on your child's Semester Report Card.

Rangeville Outside School Hours Care Services
Rangeville Outside Hours School Care services are available for families if you need before school care, after school care or vacation care. If you want to know more about what is available, please contact the staff located in the Big Hall (W Block). There is also information on the P&C website www.rsspandc.com.au or email at roshc@rangevilless.eq.edu.au
Reminder to Parents
For the safety of your children and the others using the service, we need to contact parents or emergency contacts, resulting in a time lapse where we cannot find a child. This is a safety risk due to not having the staff ratios while we search for the children absent.
There are multiple ways to notify the service if your child is not attending a session:
- Record an absence via the Xplor App - go to attendance mark as absent (this is the preferred method)
- Call the service - 46177388 and leave a message
- Text through to the mobile - 0421 647 404 (leave a detailed text, Child's full name, date not attending)
- Email the service at roshc@rangevilless.eq.edu.au
If your child is absent from School, you still need to notify the service as we are independent to the school and due to Confidentiality, they are not authorised to notify us of your child's absence.
If we cannot reach the primary contact, emergency contacts are called and if these contacts cannot be reached, THE POLICE WILL BE CALLED.
If you are returning a call, please press EXT 4 to connect directly to the service. If not answered, please leave a message or text the mobile immediately.
If you do not notify us, you will incur a $5 penalty fee, as we are spending considerable time trying to find these absent children in the school grounds.
If this occurs more than 3 times, we may consider reviewing your enrolment.
